Nine months on: Gwadar fishermen still in Somali captivity

Occupied Balochistan,GWADAR: The authorities couldn’t care less, complained families of the 11 fishermen from Gwadar, who were kidnapped eight months ago by Somali pirates when their boat drifted into the open sea.Expressing disappointment on Tuesday at the government’s indifference to their plight, relatives of the kidnapped fishermen termed the administration and society “lethargic”.
The fishermen, who were captured by Somali pirates, along with their launch back in February, include Ibrahim, Rahim Bakhsh, Tahir, Saleh Muhammad, Qadir Bakhsh, Younus Muhammad Ali, Khuda Bakhsh, Rafiq and Hanif.

Initially, the victims were in contact with their families through satellite phones. They informed their relatives that the pirates were demanding money for their release. However, it’s been months now since the families last heard from them.
The families said they have held two meetings with their MPA and provincial Minister for Fisheries Hammal Kalmti to seek his help, but no steps had been taken by him so far. They added that whenever they call him now, they are told he is either in Islamabad or in London.
Owner of the ill-fated fishing boat Khuda Baksh told that they had also contacted human rights activist Ansar Burney in this regard, but he too had not paid any heed to the matter.
The families who are worried sick about the health and safety of their loved ones urged the media to bring their predicament to the forefront in hopes of moving the government to fulfill its responsibilities.

Despite the limited resources Daily Tawar continues its publication for seven years.

Latest sources from Quetta said after Pakistan’s notorious intelligence agencies lives threatens to working journalists of Tawar; they are using different tactics to pressurize staff, News agents and printing offices to stop working for Daily Tawar. After their useless efforts ,intelligence agencies now planned to intimidate tawar’s with their pressure tactics, they now choose to physically abolish the Newspaper, its staff and news agents.

However Mr. Lehri editor of Daily Tawar said now intelligence agencies after threatening me many times; now pressurizing the staff and news agents of Daily Tawar. There are almost 120 reporters, correspondents and news agents working for Daily Tawar at various places of Balochistan, their lives are in danger. Tawar staffs including people of Balochistan once again urge the Reporter without Borders, International Association of Journalists, International Union of Journalists, Union of Journalists, and including national and international organizations to call emergency meetings, make commissions’ in order to save hundreds of journalists in Balochistan.

Reports of a fresh military operation in Mand and Dasht region of Balochistan

Occupied Balochistan: According to a report aired on Radio Gwank Balochistan heavy contingents ofPakistan military and intelligence forces have started a fresh houses – to – house search in Mand and Dasht area. “From past three days there has been unprecedented increase in military activities in Dasht and surrounding areas”, reported a Radio Gwank local correspondent.

He further said that backed by helicopters, a convoy of around 25 -30 military armoured vehicles and two Vigo Jeeps of intelligence officials arrived Gogord and Hapsi regions of Balochistan. They have been randomly picking people and interrogating them about a five-page-long list of names which they carry with them. According to the intelligence agencies personal these names are of supposed Sarmachars (Freedom Fighters) who they say are in the remote areas of Dasht and Mand mountains. Helicopters have been seen hovering over nearby mountains earlier on Tuesday morning.

“They are brutally torturing innocent people who refused to cooperate with the military or simply say they have no information about the named person on the security forces' list. There have also been reports of skirmish between the Baloch fighters and Pakistani security forces in the remote mountainous areas”, explained Radio Gwank reporter from an unknown location in Balochistan.

The correspondent said that the security forces have been stopping people at check posts and their mobile phones have been confiscated for unknown reasons. Military is still pouring into the Gawader region and it is feared that they plan to intensify their atrocities in coastal regions of Balochistan.

Baloch poet’s life is in danger: VBMP

Occupied Balochistan: The Chairman and vice chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons in an urgent press statement expressed their fear that Baloch social activist and Poet’s life at risk at risk at the hand of Pakistani intelligence agencies.

Nasruallah Baloch and Qadeer Baloch in their joint statement said that after the abduction of Baloch political activists and student the state agencies are now abducting Baloch social activists, poet and journalists. They said renowned Baloch poet Shakir Shad works for a social organisation in Islamabad and on 22 September he was going to his native town of Pedarak from Karachi when the passenger bus he was travelling by was stopped at Ormara FC check post. The security forces first asked Mr Shakir Shad to alight from the bus for a routine body-search. As soon as the Baloch poet stepped out of the bus he was arrested and driven towards an unknown location.

His organisation has expressed serious concerns about his arrest and disappearance. They said Mr Shad’s life is at real danger. They urged the Human Rights Organisations to take immediate notice of this incident and play their due role for the safe and early release of the Baloch poet and social activist.

Occupied Balochistan: Four female teachers of a private school were attacked with acid by unknown culprits in Killi Alam area of Saryab here on Saturday.

According to local police officer Malik Arshad, the female teachers were sitting in a van outside their school in Killi Alam on Saryab Road when two men on motorbikes hurled acid and fled from the scene. Three teachers, in early 20s, received burn injuries on their face, hands and legs while clothes of another teacher were burnt. The victims were identified as Robina Mushwani, 21, Fazila Bangulzai, 23, Sajida Bibi, 24 and 21-year-old Surriya Langhov. Sajida Bibi was discharged after being provided first aid.

“We were sitting inside the van outside of our school when two persons on motorbike appeared and the hurled acid. The attackers were wearing masks and disappeared from the scene,” one of the injured Fazila told the doctors at Bolan Medical College Hospital.

The victims were admitted at Plastic Surgery and Burns Wounds Department at BMC that was crowded with their relatives. One of the eye witnesses claimed that the culprits had hurled a bottle containing deadly acid on the four female teachers. Dr Allah Bakhsh told the Express Tribune that the victim Rubina received 8 per cent burn injuries in her face and hands, Surriya 3.4 per cent while Fazila sustained 2 per cent wounds. “All the patients are stable and admitted to the ward. We have discharged Sajida Bibi whose merely clothes were burnt,” said Dr Allah Bakhsh.

Police have taken the driver into custody for interrogation. They have also mounted a manhunt in the area and detained several people for questioning.

According to relatives, they had not received any threat. “The van was parked outside the skillful Grammar School as usually and ready to drop the teachers to their respective areas,” said Saleem, relative of one of the victims.

It was the third incident in Balochistan during the past 15 months as earlier three women were attacked with acid in Kalat while two sisters sustained burn injuries in Dalbandin. Later, ISI / MI created new dummy organizations claimed the responsibility and warned the female not to move out in Bazaars, do not work outside and don’t participate in any protest rally or seminars.

It is generally presumed that religious fanatics supported by the state’s intelligence agencies are involved in the acid attacks because they want to spread panic among the Baloch female teachers and Baloch women who are playing a vital role in Balochistan’s independence movement.

Baloch resistance Organiations and leaders of Baloch Nationalist political parties and student Organisatons had strongly condemned the attack on Baloch sisters in Daalbandin and Kalat. They had termed such attacks a dirty game of the state agencies against the secular Baloch society.

National Remembrance Day To Be Held In London On 17 July To Tribute The Baloch Martyrs

The Baloch nation, like many other nations, in their struggle for freedom has endured great sacrifices. In their endeavor to achieve these aims many have encountered and experienced the wrath of the occupying states. In consequence, many Baloch men, women and children in their struggle for National Liberation have been treated violently and inhumanly by the military and the intelligence services of these occupying states. The very harsh treatment of Baloch people is well recorded, particularly by states such as Pakistan and Iran. Since their illegal occupation of Balochistan these states have been involved in the systematic imprisonment, torture, abduction and extra-judicial killings of Baloch.

According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons currently around 8000-13,000 Baloch political activists are in the illegal custody of Pakistani security agencies in occupied Balochistan. Tens of thousands have Baloch have been displaced and many hundreds have been either target killed by state’s security agencies or tortured to death under-custody. International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons collected the details of at least 175 Baloch political activists killed during captivity since July 2010.

Similarly hundreds of Baloch have been killed by the fundamentalist Regime of Iran in Iranian Occupied Balochistan and several are on death row waiting to be executed.

In tribute to sacrifices of the Baloch Martyrs the Baloch community in London holds a day of remembrance on the 15, July of every year. The day is nominated as “Baloch Martyrs Remembrance Day.” On this day we express our solidarity with families of Baloch Martyrs and those who are being illegally detained by occupying forces. Also, on this day there will be an exhibition of pictures, names, and a brief description on the background of each victim of occupying states’ violence.

Blast targets FC in Turbat; five killed several injured

Occupied Balochistan: A roadside bomb targeting a Frontier Corps (FC) convoy killed five FC personnel and wounded six in Balochistan’s Turbat area, officials said. The attack occurred in the Mand Ballo area of the district.

According to official sources “Unknown men had planted explosive material beside a road and detonated it with a remote control device when a convoy was passing through.” As a result of the explosion, five personnel were killed and six others sustained serious injuries, they maintained.

They said that the wounded personnel were given immediate medical aid in Turbat and later were referred to Quetta. According to doctors, condition of two of the six injured personnel was very critical.

Official sources confirmed that a search operation has been launched in the area lying along the Pak-Iran border in Turbat district and some suspected individuals had been taken into custody.

Further investigation was underway.

Balochistan is the scene of a war between Pakistani occupying forces and Baloch armed Organisations who are fighting for the Independence of Balochistan. It is worth mentioning that the attack on security forces was carried out less than 24 hours after the statement of Commander and Southern Command Lit. General Javed Zia where he said, “Insurgency in Balochistan is dying down”. However, today’s attack on Pakistan’s paramilitary forces and constant attacks on security forces check posts, gas pipelines, construction companies and other government places proves his claims wrong.

Balochistan continues to bleed: Body of Comrade Abdul Ghaffar Langove found

Occupied Balochistan, 1 July 2011: Baloch patriot and pro-liberation leader Abdul Ghaffar Langov has killed under-custody by Pakistani security forces, his bullet-riddled and mutilated dead body was recovered today in Gadani area of district Lasbela, Balochistan.

Comrade Ghaffar Langove Baloch was abducted by Pakistani security agencies from Karachi on 11 December 2009, from hospital where his wife was admitted. Till his extra judicial murder his whereabouts remained unknown. He had no access to legal representation neither was he family allowed to meet him.

The relatives of Ghaffar Langav have been protesting for his safe recovery from the Platform of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, an Organisation formed by the families of enforced disappeared Baloch activists, which is striving for the safe and early release of illegally detained Baloch activists and for the arrested of uniformed culprits (the FC, ISI and Military Intelligence) to be brought to justice for their crimes against humanity in occupied Balochistan.

Comrade Ghaffar was first arrested in 2000 but was released around after one month of torture and interrogation by personnel of Military Intelligence. He was rearrested in 2006 from Mangochar area of Balochistan; both times he was subjected to brutal physical and psychological torture by Pakistani Military and Intelligence agencies. After years of illegal imprisonment comrade Mir Ghaffar Langov was released on Friday 8 May 2009. He was received by hundreds of Baloch students and taken to Balochistan University. At the University Mr. Langov reaffirmed his resolve to continue the struggle for the liberation of Balochistan.

In December 2009 Mir Abdul Ghaffar Langov took his wife to Karachi for treatment when the Pakistani intelligence agencies and Karachi Police abducted him for the third time from the gate of hospital on 11, December, 2009. He was kept under illegal custody by the Pakistani security forces despite several orders by Sindh High court for his recovery. The security agencies of Pakistan ignored all the orders of the Courts and denied detaining Mr. Langov. In a free and democratic counrty the intelligence agencies and ISI would have been in contempt of court and would be detained for not obeying the Court orders but in Pakistan the Judiciary, the media, and even the parliament are subservient to the Army and ISI.

The family members of Comrade Abdul Ghaffar Baloch have constantly been protesting in Quetta, Karachi and Islamabad for his release but all in futile. They have time and again urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of his illegal abduction and get the Military Intelligence to produce him to court of law. The family went to the extent to say that if he was involved in any unlawful activities, he should be produced before the court o law in accordance with the constitution of country [Pakistan] and given the opportunity to stand a fair trial to prove his innocence or if he was found guilty he should be punished according the country’s law but all to no avail because the ISI, military Intelligence and other security agencies are a law onto themselves and running a state of their own where they believe they not answerable to anyone.

Daughter of Dr Deen Mohammad Baloch seeks Rights groups help to get her father released

Occupied Balochistan: Daughter of missing Dr Din Mohammad Baloch has called upon national and international humanitarian organizations to play their due role for immediate recovery of her missing father.

Addressing a news conference at a hunger strike camp set up by relatives of missing persons, she said that her father was whisked away by security personnel on June 28th in 2009 from his government residence in Tehsil Ornach.

“The kidnappers had beaten up and tortured my father in front of watchman and other employees while dragging him towards official vehicles,” she charged. FIR was registered against the secret agency in Ornach police station but there was no progress in carrying out investigation into the illegal detention.

“The eyewitness had recorded their statements before the Supreme Court, Balochistan High Court, Judicial Commission and investigation committees that my father is in illegal custody of Government functionaries but so far no measure has been taken to recover my father.” she complained.

She said she had also recorded her protest in Islamabad along with other relatives of Baloch missing persons. “I appeal to Humanitarian organizations to intervene into the matter and I had apprehensions that my father is being brutally tortured if steps were not taken to recover him immediately as his body will also be found dumped like the other Baloch missing persons,” she added.

Voice for Baloch Missing Persons president Nasarullah Baloch has said that more than 161 bullet-riddled bodies of Baloch missing persons had been found from different parts of Balochistan in last ten months.

BLF claim to have inflicted heavy loss to Pakistani and Iranian security forces

BLF spokesperson Basham Baloch told BBC that Pakisani and Iranian forces had been conducting a joint military operation in Makran. Talking to BBC UrduBasham Baloch told that Baloch freedom fighter clashed with Iranian and Pakistani forces in Hoshab, Mand, Buleeda and Mashkay. The brutal forces had suffered heavy losses. Aerial bombardment, house to house searches, arresting and torturing civilian and killing them in cold blood is going on.

Makran shares border with Iranian Makran. The state of makran was illegally divided by British and Iran in a treaty in late 19thcentury which resulted in bloody wars between Baloch and Iranian forces. Baloch has never recognized the border between Iran and Pakistan which they see as occupying forces. Whenever Baloch have raised the slogan of Freedom, their voices have been jointly suppressed by Iranian and Pakistani forces.

Basham Baloch appealed to UN and International Organisation to take notice of Iranian and Pakistani brutalities against innocent Baloch people who aspire for nothing but a free Balochistan. He also appealed to Baloch people to stand united against the enemies.

While addressing to Baloch people he said, “We appeal you to stay away from enemy forces. Our Sarmachar (Freedom fighters) can target them anytime. We want to avoid any collateral damage. We pay our deepest respects and tributes to the Baloch martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the National Liberation. It is their sacrifices that we are much closer to a free Baloch state. The joint military operation by Iranian and Pakistani forces shows that fact that we have defeated them psychologically and militarily.”

Pakistan and Iranian forces have been conducting a military operation in Makran for several days. Iranian helicopters and security forces armed with heavy artillery have crossed the border and started a house to house search. FC and Pakistan Air force have also been taking part in the on-going operation. The forces have arrested several persons including women and children. They have been shifted to unknown places. Several houses were razed to the ground by Iranian bulldozers. Ready to harvest crops belongs to the poor farmers set on fire.

A Baloch farmer on the condition of anonymity said that, “They have taken several children and women with them. They torched the land and tortured us and razed our houses to the ground. It is the Iranian forces that are conducting an operation in Pakistan occupied Balochistan”

According to the local sources, the scene was presenting a full scale war; gunship helicopters, aerial bombardment, artillery, Pakistani Air force personnel, and Iranian helicopters are taking part in a brutal aggression against civil population and innocent villagers.

Baloch blogger awarded 20 year imprisonment by an Iranian kangaroo court

Occupied Balochistan: Have you heard of Sakhi Regi? Certainly, his name has not reached to your ears. He was one of the imprisoned after the presidential elections of the year 1388 (2009). This political activist and writer run a blog called “Sarafraz Balochistan blogfa" during the elections of year 1388 (2009) he was one of main supporter of Mir Hassan Mosavi. On 28 Khordad 1388 (18 June 2009) he was in his personal car along with his wife and daughter when some people have stopped them at University Street Zahidan and abducted him at gunpoint. After lots of efforts and pursuit it has been established that he has been abducted by Iranian Intelligence agencies.

After seven months of illegal imprisonment Sakhi Regi in an undisclosed location has been charged for "propagating against the system" [Iranian Regime] through his blog and for this he has been awarded 20 years sentence. After spending three months in Zahedan, capital of Iranian occupied Balochistan, prison he has been shifted to Kaaroon Prison in Ahwaz the Arab Majority region in Iran. The transfer doesn’t only add salt to the wounds of innocent webloger but his family would find it impossible to travel hundreds of miles for visits.

Latest reports reveal that Mr Sakhi is not feeling well because of the torture and inhuman treatment he suffered in prison. Young Regi who has just turned 31 year is a student of IT computing and has not completed his education yet.

What kind of justice is it that has separated nine (9) year old Rezwana, daughter of Regi, from her father only for writing few lines in a weblog? Shall this child spend her juvenile life without her father and reunite with him when he becomes 50 after spending his youth in prison under torture and ill-treatment? What sort of justice is this? Isn’t this unfair to Mr Sakhi and his family?

According to Baluchinew Iran has a notorious history of intolerance towards blogging and many bloggers face arrests, tortures and imprisonments. Situation for Baluch bloggers is even more severe. At least one of the Baluch bloggers namely Yaghub Mehrnehad was hanged on similar charges in 2008. He was the first ever blogger to be hanged throughout the world.

Another victim of enforced disappearances murdered in cold-blood by Pakistan (military)

Occupied Balochistan: The unknown body found in Dasht area near Quetta on Wednesday has been identified as Faiz Muhammad Marri Baloch.

Faiz Muhammad Marri was abducted along with his cousin Khan Mohammad Marri on the night between 6th and 7th November 2010 during a raid on their house in Metrowell area of Karachi. The Sindh Ranger Police and other Intelligence agencies personnel has carried out the raid and on the persistence of Mr Marri’s aged parents the personal of security forces did confirm their Identity and let them see the official police cars in front of the flat.

Last, years couple of days after Mr Marri’s arrest the family sources has informed the media that Faiz had already been missing for a long time and was only released about three weeks before his re-arrest. The family had also complained that Faiz Muhammad was in critical condition due to extreme torture and physical abuses and at the time of his arrest he under treatment from his earlier wounds.

Mr Marri case was also registered with the UN Working Group on enforced disappearances. Yet the UN and other Humanitarian Organisation so far has failed to raise the Baloch issue in their meeting/sessions on the issue of Human Rights Violations.

The young Baloch activist’s body was found in Dasht area near Quetta on Wednesday (02-03-2010) after 3 months of his abduction by Pakistan military forces. According to sources it was almost not possible to recognise the body as it was badly disfigured, however, later relatives have identified Faiz Muhammad Marri body and took him to New Kahan Quetta “Baloch Martyrs graveyard”. He will be buried today (04-03-2011).

Baloch National Voice (BNV) has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Faiz Muhammad Marri, adding that such kill and dump policy of the occupying state cannot deter the Baloch Liberation Movement. The BNV also paid rich tributes to the sacrifices and struggle of Shaheed Marri.

Baloch human Rights activist shot dead in Khuzdar, as some Baloch parties brace for cultural day celebrations

Occupied Balochistan: A human rights activist and coordinator of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) district Khuzdar, Naeem Sabir Jamaldini, has been gunned down today evening in Khuzdar market.

According details Naeem Sabir was standing in front of his shop in Khuzdar market when unknown masked motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on him. He was hit in the head and died instantly on the spot. No group has accepted responsibility for the murder so far. Naeem Sabir was a renowned social activist and a writer in Khuzdar. He was also the chairman of Health and Rural Development (HARD) Balochistan.

He mobilized the community groups for human rights and was continuously reporting the human rights violation in Balochistan. Mainly, he covered the abduction of Baloch youth and recovery of the decomposed and mutilated dead bodies. The cold-blooded murder of Naeem Sabir is the continuation of the ongoing state sponsored target killings of Baloch activists.

Pakistan military and their hired death squads have been target killing, abducting and killing in custody Baloch students, poets, lawyers and Human Rights activists since 2006. However, they intensified the mass killings in Balochistan from July 2010 onwards. Naeem Sabir is the 108th person to be killed at the hands of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. Another member of HRC Mr.Siddique Edo Baloch, who had been abducted on 12/12/2010, is still being held by Pakistan security forces at some undisclosed location.

The last sentences of Naeem Sabir he wrote in Urdu on facebook “Kia 100 Balocho nojawano ki maskh shuda lashey aur hazaro lapata nojawano k mah baap, behn bhaio aur masoom bacho ka dukh aur tarrap “”JASHAN”" manane ki ijazat dete he????” Does the recovery of the decomposed bodies of 100 Baloch youth and the suffering of thousands of enforced disappeared Baloch activists', sisters, innocent children and parents allow us to celebrate “JASHAN”?

According to media sources they are planning to go for celebrations atSea View in Karachi.

The critics of this JASHAN OR CELEBRATION are of the view that even though it is a cultural day but there is no need to sing and dance at a time when there is almost no house in Balochistan that has not received a bullet riddled and decomposed body of their loved one or have not had any of their beloved one arrested and disappeared. The unity of pro-liberation parties, BNF, believes that the cultural day should be observed sober and simple in the loving memory of Baloch Martyrs of liberation and in solidarity with the families of Baloch enforced disappeared persons.

International Humanitarian Organisations are ignoring Baloch Genocide by Pakistan: Hyrbyair Marri

Occupied Balochistan: Baloch leader Hyrbyair Marri commenting on the latest statement of Amnesty International said that though it is too little too late but the statement by AI confirms that the Pakistan (security forces) have been given a free hand to carry out mass killings in Balochistan. Despite the confirmation of AI the International Human Rights Organisation in Balochistan are turning a blind eye on state atrocities against Baloch Nation.

He said that “In my view these Organisations (by keeping silence) are supporting the colonising forces to keep their grip around occupied Nations. Their hypocritical policies of suppressing the weak nations and siding with oppressors are not in the advantage of civilised societies. It is proven from the history that slaved nations are forced to live in third world but today in the era of this global progress these International Institutions are busy finding a fourth world for the enslaved nations. In their mind the lives and dignity of oppressed Nations have no worth and value”.

Mr Marri further said that Pakistan [state] is committing atrocities and utilising all its power to eliminate the Baloch nation right under the nose of these International Institution but they still have a soft corner for such a state. The statement of Hyrbyair Marri published on Daily Tawar Balochistan further read: “Pakistan doesn’t need Baloch but their need is Baloch land and resources; if International Community terminates their support, stop backing the occupying state and end advocacy in favour of Pakistan then I believe it [Pakistan] doesn’t have enough strength and courage to sustain its occupation on Baloch land. Whenever in the world the situation deteriorated and resembled the situation of Balochistan; all these Human Rights Institutions, UN, EU, International Court & Amnesty International intervened immediately to stop the genocidal policies of the invaders/occupiers. Had the International Community intervened in Balochistan to stop Pakistan from committing genocide of the Baluch people today there wouldn't have been bloodshed in Balochistan”.

Further expressing his anger over the silence of International Humanitarian Organisations Mr Marri said “Today where my nation is receiving decomposed and bullet riddled bodies of Baloch activists, streets of Balochistan are being washed with Baloch blood, and the Punjabi Death Squad load their guns to kill more youth from my people, the army cantonments in which Baloch activists are suffering extreme torture is greater than what the prisoners in Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo Bay are experiencing; these heinous crimes being carried out just meters away from the huge mansions where these so called Human Rights Defenders reside, yet they don’t see or hear the crying and protesting families of the missing persons on foot paths almost in every city in Balochistan. Pakistan is indiscriminately killing Baloch educated Baloch youth, teacher, lawyers, poets, political activists and common civilians in an attempt to silent the Baloch National struggle; despite all these mass killings the International Institutions have shut their eyes and ears . The champions of Human Rights cannot see anything else in Balochistan but the FESTIVAL SHOW of falling dead bodies of Baloch activists. Unfortunately, the International Organisations are backing the occupying states as well as justifying their atrocities and labelling the voice of occupied Nations as terrorism”.

In relation to Balochistan the International Community is contradicting its own passed humanitarian laws and International principles by supporting the occupier and suppressing the voice of the occupied. He said the International Court of Justice have not taken any notice of Pakistan’s atrocities against Balochistan nor did the UN, EU and other International democracies played any honest and equal role to resolve the Baloch issue. “If the role of International Institutions is to strengthen the oppressors and weaken the oppressed Nation then in such conditions, at least, they have no ethical and moral right to work in Balochistan; Baluch Nation has the capability to carry out their National struggle and face the enemy. The presence of these Institutions is becoming a hurdle in the way of our struggle. It is useless to expect justice and help from these organisations as they are silent on regular falling bodies of Baloch people – to trust them is like crying before a blind person”.

Mr Marri stated that “The Baluch cannot trust these International Organisations until they bring a positive change to their policies and behaviour toward the occupied or enslaved Nation. The Baloch are defending their homeland and struggling for National their identity; if they [International Organisations] are not ready to support us [the Baloch] and don’t condemn the mass custodial killings of Baloch activists then it is better for them to leave Balochistan so that Baloch nation can defend themselves better.”

The Baloch leader said that Pakistan army and the rest of state machinery is busy in crushing the Baloch nation, mostly Pakistan’s current Interior Minister Rehman Malik, who is at the forefront to order mass killings in Balochistan and Pakistan secret agencies are operating with his consent and permission. On his orders they are killing Baloch activists in custody and dumping their bodies away.

“Rehman Malik is a permanent resident of Britain; it is the moral responsibility of the world and the British authorities to question him for directly inciting and ordering the security agencies for carrying out the genocide in Balochistan. Malik should be brought before the International Criminal Court for cases of enforced disappearance and kill and dump policy in Balochistan because the FC (Frontier Corps) is involved in abducting, torturing and killed and dump of Baloch activists the FC works under Home Department and this department takes directions form Rehman Malik”.

He also said that Aslam Raisani, Zehri brothers and some other called Nationalist Baloch leaders are also equally responsible for the current bloodshed in Balochistan.

The Baloch leader further stated that history confirms that in the final days of Bangladesh’s struggle for liberation Pakistan has used the same methods killed and dump of the intellectuals, teachers, singers, students, doctors, physicians and journalist to eliminate the most enlighten section of the nation. Pakistan is repeating same crimes against humanity in Balochistan. Despite such barbarism the Bengalis have succeeded in gaining their freedom. Similarly, the British have recruited large number of Indian youth in Army whereas British were very less but ruled the entire India because they had occupied key posts. When the Indian nation became aware they started struggle against them but the British before leaving had robbed India.

In the end he said that Baloch Nations is aware of the fact that the path of freedom is full of difficulties and in near future the Nation will face further challenges. Baloch Nation is psychologically well aware and ready to face tough time ahead that is why it is impossible for Pakistan to stop the caravan of liberation with the sheer use of force and barbarism.

Protest against cold-blooded murder of Mehboob Wadhela and Master Arif Rehman Baloch

Occupied Balochistan/Karachi: A shutter down and wheel jam protest was observed for second consecutive day against the murder of two Baloch political activists, by Pakistan military, in most cities and town of Balochistan.

The BSO-Azad and BNF had given the call for protest to which the people responded positively by keeping their transports off the roads and businesses shut. Most of the government office, schools and Banks also remained close for the second day in most parts of Balochistan.

Meanwhile, the lawyers boycotted court proceedings in Makuran region on the appeal of Kech Bar Association. No lawyers have attended any court proceedings and the Bar strongly condemned the extra judicial killings of Mehboob Wadhela Baloch and Arif Rehman Baloch. The lawyers termed the cold-blooded murder of Baloch political activists a gross human rights violation naked barbarism.

Government Teacher Association also boycotted classes and protested against the murder of Master (Teacher) Arif Rehman Baloch and Mr. Wadhela. The GTA had announced seven days mourning and three days protest against the murder of their colleague Arif Baloch. All the schools and educational institutes will remain closed for the third day (Today).

On the other hand civil societies while strongly criticising the Balochistan government said that the extra-judicial killings were taking place with the consent of the government (provincial government). “If the provincial government fails to stop this bloodshed then the entire Balochistan will join the revolution [against the state]”.

Karachi protest: hundreds of gather in front of Karachi Press Club on the call of BNF to protest against the in-custody killing of Arif Rehman Baloch and Mehboob Wadhela Baloch by Pakistan (security forces). The demonstrators were holding placards inscribed against state atrocities against Baluch people and demands to the UN to intervene in Balochistan. The participants of the protest also chanted full throat slogans against Pakistan and in favour of Baloch freedom movement.

Speaking at the occasion the BNF leaders said that recent wave of killings of Baloch political activists was the continuation of the state’s policy of genocide of the Baloch people. They, however, reiterated such brutal acts of the state [Pakistan] will not stop the growing popularity of Baloch struggle for National liberation. The (BNF) demanded of the International Community to take notice of Baloch genocide at the hands of Pakistan.

Mehboob Wadela, Rehman Arif bullet riddled bodies found in Balochistan, Ormara.

Shaheed Mehboob Wadela : A senior activist of BNM (Baloch National Movement) was snatched from a Karachi-Gowader bound passenger van on 2nd April 2010. Mahboob Baloch alongside several other passengers were about to leave for Gowader from Karachi when several plane-clothed Pakistani intelligence agencies personals stopped the passenger van at Yousaf Goath in Karachi. The eye witnesses have reported that plane-clothed men abducted Mr Wadhela at gun point; almost dragged him to their vehicle and drove off towards an unknown location. The witnesses had noted that the perpetrators were driving an official car.

Shaheed Rehman Arif Baloch : President of Baloch Republican Party Gowader Zone was abducted from Karachi. while he was looking after a relative in a Karachi hospital at the time of his abduction. On 3rd September 2010 Mr Rehman Arif along with a relative was seen leaving the hospital near Rancho Line Karachi, eyewitnesses reported that plain clothed men have stopped and abducted the BRP leader and his relative. After few hours his relative was released but Mr Rehman Arif was missing till this date, who has now been murdered by Pakistan.

Occupied Balochistan:Search operation initiated in Kohistan Marri and the surrounding areas, the area was siege when huge number of forces ambushed the area of Kohistan Marri and arrested seven locals while also destroying the locals houses in the process of search operation.

From the details and local sources yesterday night the forces ambushed Kohistan Marri from three different paths and started yet another search operation on local Baloch population, the first convoy of security forces was numbered in 16 vehicles came from kohlu, the second convoy numbered 12 vehicles of security forces arrived from Safed Bareli & the last convoy arrived from Barkhan numbering 14 vehicles arrived the seized areas and took their position by ambushing the surrounding Baloch villages and started their search operation.

The search operation was initiated on Tuesday morning and it was still going on while the last report was received, the lack of communication and blockage of media coverage has made it impossible for a correct information on arrest & losses, from the local sources it is believed that the grand operation initiated in different areas of Kohistan Marri includes Siya Koh, Nashao, Barili & Pineyara, the forces in the wake of search operation also used far ranging missiles and gunship helicopters were seen surveying the area.

Detailing the information on arrest of Tribal Personalities like Haji Mohammad Ibrahim Marri & Nawazi Marri local sources stated that in the area of Marri Bohri forces took away both the Tribal personalities while the search operation was on the way, while Rasool Buksh Marri, Sado Marri, Dara Marri, Lagari Marri & Baoch Khan were arrested when there vehicle was halted on the FC check post as they were going to Barkhan from Nashao, Pakistani forces used heavy weaponry in the search operation also as in Siya Koh Jamag Marri’s house was demolished by the use of missiles.

While the haystack home of Hassan Khan was also destroyed in the use of heave weaponry as the forces bombarded different places with heavy missiles, while heavy weaponry was used in the search operation but due to lack of communication system there is no news of any physical causalities, while the local sources also stated that in the mean of search operation Pakistani forces are looting the live stocks of the locals and are harassing the people by door to door search operation because in the area of Nashao Pakistani forces took a horse from Yousuf marri’s house, such disgusting act are being played by the Pakistani forces in the Baloch dominated areas because in the mean of search operation they actually harass women and children & take the live stocks of the locals with them.

The local sources confirmed a fine number of people were arrested in the wake of search operation, as the area of kohistan marri was seized from any media response, use of heavy weaponry and bombardment, arrest and harassment continued for whole one day in the region of Kohistan Marri.

Army operation in Tootak area of Khuzdar,2 killed,dozens injured and thirty people abducted

Two activists of the Baloch Students Organisation-Azad (BSO-Azad) were shot dead, and more than two dozens were injured and thirty abducted by Pakistani forces from Tootak area of Khuzdar district on Friday.BSO-Azad and Baloch Republican Party (BRP) claimed that security forces had killed two activists of BSO-Azad during a search operation in Tutak area and besieged it for more than ten hours,dozens severely injured and thirty people abducted by forces.

The levies personnel took the bodies to the Khuzdar Civil Hospital for medical examination where they were identified as Muhammad Naeem Qalandarani and Yaha Khan Qalandarani. According to Khuzdar-based journalists, they were not allowed by doctors to photograph the bodies. BSO-Azad held protest demonstrations in Quetta, Naushki and Pasni condemning the killings of its activists and accused security forces of carrying out massive operation in Baloch-populated areas. BSO spokesman said that security personnel had besieged the Tutak area and carried out home-to-home search and violated the sanctity of homes.

Pakistani forces attacked a village in Dera Bugti ,seven civilians were killed and more than 15 injured

At least seven people were killed and more than 15 injured when Pakistani security forces attacked a village on Punjab-Balochistan border area some 80 km from Rajanpur.The residents of surrounding areas were taken aback by the intensity of the Pakistani military offensives that continued for more than 18 hours.A large number of cattle were killed by security forces. These had belonged to the locals in the Suri and Patokh areas.

Three more bullet riddled bodies found in Balochistan as Pakistan continues its kill and dump policy

Occupied Balochstan: Three bullet-riddled Baloch activists have been found in different locations of Balochistan between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Daily times reported that a passerby spotted a body near Sabzal Road Quetta and informed the police. The body was taken to Bolan Medical Hospital for autopsy, where the victim was identified as Abdul Jabbar son of Muhammad Baksh Lango. He belonged to Manuchar tehsil of Kalat district. Hospital sources said that the victim was shot in the head, which caused an instant death.

“A letter was found from the body in which his name was written,” police said. A case was registered and investigations were underway.

According to Voice for Balochistan Missing Persons Chairman, Nasrullah Baloch, Jabbar was abducted a month ago. However, he said that his name was not included in the list of the missing people.

Two more bodies found on Monday Morning: The bullet riddled body of Arzi Khan Marri was found near Zero point in Uthal where body of Saeed Ahmad Mengal was found in Khuzdar town. Arz Mohammad aka Arzi Marri was abducted along with his cousin Sohbat Khan Marri on 29 September 2010 from the industrial town of Hub. Brutally tortured and riddled with bullets body ofSohbat Khan Marri was found from Dasht area near Quetta.

The families of Arzi Khan Marri and Sohbat Khan Marri have said that Pakistan intelligence agencies were responsible for the abduction and subsequent killing of the cousins one after another.

The third body that was found in Khuzdar has been identified as Saeed Ahmad Mengal. Family sources reported that Saeed was working as a labour in Panjgure and had been abducted from there few weeks ago.

All the three victims have been shot in the head in a similar fashion like the previous victims of Pakistan’s Kill and dump policy. None of the victims belongs to any political parties or affiliated with any other groups. Their only fault, apparently, is being Baloch which made them victims of Pakistan’s ongoing policy of Baloch genocide.

Pakistani secret agencies abducted another Baloch from Hub town

Occupied Balochistan,HUB:Abid Basheer resident of Pasni, another victim of abduction by the Pakistani intelligence officials. On his way to Karachi from Pasni, Abid Basheer was abducted from Hub Chowki. According to reports, Abid Basheer s/o Basheer Omer travelling to Karachi in his private vehicle along with his cousin Dad Baksh were stopped by the Pakistani intelligence officials in Hub Chowki also known as Gateway of Balochistan. His cousin was left unharmed.

Family and relatives of Abid Basheer are very concerned about his safety and have filed a FIR in a local Police Station in Hub Chowki. Many people believe the filing FIR against such abductions is useless as the intelligence officials aren't bond to any law in Pakistan.

There are over 8,000 "missing" persons in Balochistan. Very after Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik's threat of taking 'staunch' action against Balochs, the kidnappings and extra-judicial murders of innocent Balochs has increased overwhelmingly.

The Occupying States’ Ongoing Crimes in Baluchistan

In the artificially structured boundaries of the states of Pakistan and Iran one thing that has no value is human lives. Both states are equipped to their teeth with modern armaments, Jihadist mercenaries and a medieval religious creed. They have used this cocktail of destruction to justify their untold atrocities. The Baluch people under illegal occupation of these unruly states have been among those who have suffered the most. Many hundreds and thousands of Baluch political and social activists have been abducted, displaced, tortured, disappeared and killed by these occupying states.

Enforced disappearance has become the daily experience of Baluch people living under occupation of these Islamic fundamentalist states. Over 8,000 Baluch activists have been abducted and disappeared in Eastern occupied Baluchistan since the year 2000. Families of these victims are not provided with any information about the missing persons. The families are threatened by security forces with dire consequences if they highlight the plight of their loved ones. From the last six months Pakistani state and military establishment have altered their policy about the abducted Baluch political and human rights activists. They have been imitating the policy of their replica counterpart, the Islamic regime of Iran. Ever since its creation, the Iranian Islamic government has been employing the ‘kill and dump’ policy against many of its opponents.

As result of this policy from July 2010 up to the present day Pakistani military agencies have killed and dumped over 100 Baluch activists. The victims of this policy for the year 2011, which barely a month is passed, are over 15 persons.

On 3 January 2011 five Baluch youths after leaving a public meeting were followed and attacked by Pakistani agencies in Karachi. Faraz Baluch, a member of BSO-Azad died in hospital from his injuries and Bilal Baluch, Umair Baluch, Salman Baluch and Saddam Baluch were kept under intensive care and survived this vicious attack.

On 4 January 2011 Pakistani security forces abducted Haji Nasir, and two teenage students, Ehsanullah and Khair Jan in Gawader. On the same day the severely tortured bodies of two prominent young Baluch political leaders were found in Pedarak area of Turbat. The victims were identified as Qamber Chakar Baluch 24 and Ilyas Nazar Baluch 26. Both victims were MSc students and a member of BSO- Azad. Qambar Chakar was abducted by Pakistan secret forces before on 10 July 2009 but was released without any charges on 22 April 2010. He was re-abducted on 26 November 2010 from Shai Tump Turbat. Ilyas Nazar Baluch was a Journalist for a Baluchi language magazine Dhorant. He was abucted on 22 December 2010 from a coach at Badok near Pasni.

Mohammad Sadiq Langov was abducted on 12 January 2011 and the bullet-riddled bodies of two Baluch traders, Taj Mohammad Marri and Meer Jan Marri were found from Bal Ghatar area of Panjgur on 8 January 2010. Pakistani security forces shot dead Sarvar Jamaldini and injured his companion in the same day in Taftan.

On 15 January 2011 Hashim Baluch, another Baluch teenage student, was abducted from an internet cafe in Hub. In the same day the body of the teenage member of BSO-Azad, Zakaria Zehri was recovered from Soorab area of Kalat. He was only 15 years old and was missing for over a month. Another victim whose body was recovered on the same day was Ghulam Hussain Mohammad Hasani. His body was found under a bridge in Singdaas area of Kalat.

The body of Mumtaz Kurd was found in Mastung on 20 January 2011. The two bodies of Baluch missing persons, Ahmed Dad Baluch and Naseer Kamalan, were found near Syedabad 23 miles away from Ormara on 17 January 2010. Ahmed Dad Baluch was abducted on 3 October 2010 and Naseer Kamalan on 5 November 2010. Both victims were well known Baluch political leaders. Naseer Kamalan was a senior leader of Baluch National Movement and he was also an inspiring Baluchi language poet. On the same day of discovery of the bodies of these two Baluch political leaders, Pakistan Frontier Corps (FC) attacked Kashi Nulla area of Dera Bugti. During the attack they killed Shakeel Baluch and injured and arrested Gabro and Sabz Ali Baluch.

Pakistani security forces raided the house of Mr Awal Khan Bugti on 21 January 2011. As he was not at home at the time of the raid Pakistan military officials abducted his wife Mai Hanifa.

Mohammad Azam Baluch was abducted by Pakistani secret agencies around 20 January 2011 from Suraab and his bullet riddled body was found near Kalat in Marjan National Highway on 25 January 2011. On the same day Abdul Rauf Qambari was abducted from Wahero area of Wadh in Balochistan. Abdul Rauf is the cousin of Waheed Qambarani, a Baluch teacher, whose mutilated body was found a month earlier.

On Monday 24 January 2011 four more Baluch youths were abducted from Tasp area of Panjgur. They were named as Waqeer, Shamsheer, Sagaar and abdul Malik. These teenage Baluch students were released few days after suffering violent physical and psychological ordeal. A day earlier, on 23 January 2011 the body of Ali Jan Kurd was recovered from Aktharbad area of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan. He was abducted by Pakistan security forces on 23 November 2010 near Sibbi. Ali Jan Kurd was only 18 years old and was a regional president of Baluch Students Organization – Azad.

Two lifeless Baluch youths were recovered on Thursday morning of 27 January 2011 in Gwargo area of Panjgur. The youths were shot and severely tortured. One of the victims, Abid Rasool Baksh Baluch a 17 year student and member of BSO-Azad, was already dead but Nasir Dagarzai was still alive. These two Baluch students were abducted along their fellow students Mehrab Baluch and Abid Saleem Baluch from the residence of Naser Dagarzai Baluch on 23 January 2011.

On 4 February 2011 three bodies were recovered from Khuzdar. The victims were identified as Hamid Issazai, Lal Khan Sumalani and Mir Khan Sumalani. Few days earlier also, on 1 February, the body of the Baluch popular singer Ali Jan Issazai was discovered in Kanak area of Khuzdar. Ali Jan and Shahzad Nadeem were abducted by Pakistani secret agencies from a hotel in Quetta on 10 January 2011.

The occupying states have increased their systematic brutality against the Baluch to an alarming level. Baluch children are not even spared from the wrath of the fundamentalist states of Iran and Pakistan. In the Western occupied Baluchistan, Amin Noraee a 16 year student was killed by the Islamic regime of Iran security forces in 1980 in Sarawan. Another teenage Baluch political activist, Khosro Mobarki, was arrested and after enduring months of torture was executed in 1981. In March 2008 Iranian security abducted Ebrahim Mehrnehad age 16. Ebrahim is the brother of Baluch journalist and civil rights activist Yaguob Mehrnehad who was executed by the Iranian government on 4 August 2008. Another Baluch child who has been abducted by the Islamic regime security forces is Mohammad Saber Malk Raisee. At the time of his arrest on 24 September 2009 he was only 16 years old.

In the Eastern occupied Baluchistan the Pakistani rulers have launched an open war against the Baluch youths and children. Large number of Baluch political and human rights activists who have been made disappeared tortured and killed have been among Baluch children.

In addition to the names of the Baluch youths cited above, Pakistani security forces abducted 17-year old Jamal Baluch on 4 October 2010. He was injected with unknown substance and subjected to extreme torture to such an extent that he has become partially paralyzed.

Abdul Majeed Baluch, a member of BSO-Azad was abducted by Pakistani Frontier Corps on 18 October 2010. Pakistani security forces murdered him and dumped his tortured body in the Koshak River at Khuzdar district on 24 October 2010. Another Baluch child and political activist, Mohammad Khan Zohaib was abducted in July 2010 by the same agencies. His mutilated body was found in Khuzdar on 20 October 2010. They were both 14 years old.

The house of Mir Ayub Gichiki was attacked by occupying security forces on 1 December 2010. In the attack Pakistani forces killed five Baluch political activists in the house. Among the victims were two of Mr Gichiki’s teenage sons, Murad Jan and Zubiar Gichki.

This policy is the natural outcome of the forceful occupation of Baluch homeland and the resistance of the native Baluch against occupying states. The most valuable assets of a society are its inspiring and forward-looking children. Premeditated and systematic infliction of pain to the tender body of a child and then murdering him or her in the most gruesome way, by organised state sponsored military forces, is only done and justified by these and similar occupying fundamentalist fascist states. We urge all Baluch to recognise the gravity of situation in Baluchistan and get united to put an end to occupying state barbarism against our people and children.

Occupied Balochistan: The chairman of BSO – Azad Comrade Bashir Zaib has said that the “Kill and dump” policy of the state is furthering the resolve of Baloch Nation and adding to their hatred toward state (Pakistan) and dominant Nation Punjabi. The ongoing abduction of Baloch activists and under-custody killings are reminder from the occupying state that Baloch Nation and Pakistan (Pakistani Nation) have no relationship and the invaders only want the Baloch land and this clear message will be fertile for National liberation movement.

Sangat Qambar Chakar Baloch, Zubair Baloch, Sami Baloch, Kamran Baloch, Ilyas Nazar Baloch, Majeed Baloch, Asim Baloch, Zakaria Baloch, Kamalan Baloch, Ahmadad Baloch and other martyr friends have sacrificed their lives for a great cause; they neither submitted to the enemy nor sold their loyalties. In fact they faced all the difficulties with courage, bravery and put their names in the books of great personalities of the history.

The state Intelligence agencies by resorting to violence against Baloch political activists have earned the hatred of each household in Balochistan instead of putting terror in their minds and hearts. He said that Baloch political activists who believed in democratic and political struggle are now being forced to adopt guerrilla ideologies because the regular abductions, torture and humiliation by state forces have left them with no other options.

Comrade Bashir Zaib further said that there will be more challenges for the Baloch in future. “It is our faith and conation that we will overcome all the challenges of the enemy and meet the expectations of Baloch Nation and of those mothers whose loved ones have been murdered”. He said that National awareness about freedom and the increasing number of ideological friends illustrates that Baloch Nation will be victorious. “The victory will be of those who are practically fighting against enemy, those whose loved one have been martyred, those who are suffering torture in torture cell and secret dungeons of enemy including the leader of BSO – azad Zakir Majeed, Comrade Qayum Baloch, Dr Deen Mohammad Baloch , Jalil Reki, Ghafoor Baloch, Abid Shah and thousands of other sons of soil. The enemy, their agents and their families will suffer disgraceful defeat because they put their loyalties, respect, tradition and faith under the feet of enemy for the sake of money and incentives.

He said to defeat the enemy and to become victorious we have to give more sacrifices and prepare to face further challenges. “We have to fully be ready to face difficulties in coming days because we cannot and should expect any decency, kindness and justice from an uncivilised and barbaric enemy – they will continue to commit the genocide of Baloch people. Their (Pakistani state’s) death squads will kill hundreds of innocent Baloch children, women and elderly; in fact they have already started the killings (under custody).

The struggle for liberation instead of weakening will intensify with the help of Baloch masses and with improved strategies. He stated that pro-independence political powers (Parties) should adopt revolutionary policies against the occupying forces and intensify the National awareness work within their circles.

Policemen killed and several taken hostage in Balochistan during clashed with Baloch fighters

Occupied Balochistan: Five policemen have been killed in an overnight clash with unidentified gunmen in Balochistan on a highway in the Mach area after the kidnapping of a top administration official in the region.

According to a report by BBC world “Unknown gunmen kidnapped the deputy commissioner of Jhal Magsi district, Shaukat Margzani, and two guards when they were travelling in a vehicle. Balochistan has been at the centre of a decade-long separatist insurgency.

The dead in the overnight clash included the head of the local Jafferabad police station, police said.

In December, a suicide bomber tried to kill the chief minister of Balochistan, blowing himself up near his convoy. At least one person died in the blast but Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani escaped harm as he was in another vehicle. And earlier that month, provincial Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi had a lucky escape when his convoy was hit by a roadside bomb in Kalat district”.

The Baloch Liberation Army said it carried out the attacks. Meerak Baloch a spokesperson of the Organisation said that BLA has killed five police officials, one government spy and an official of FC in two different incidents. He said 4 FC personnel have also been injured in a clash with BLA fighters. He also claimed responsibility for taking hostage the Deputy Commissioner of Jhal Magsi, a Trainee engineer Mohammad Nawab and five Levis officials.

Talking to NNI Meerak Baloch said the hostages will be investigated if they are found guilty of anti Baloch activities or killing of innocent Baloch activists then they will also be killed.

Bramdagh Bugti seeks political asylum in Switzerland

Occupied Balochistan:Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti, leader of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP), reached Switzerland where he sought political asylum.

This was disclosed by Mir Sher Muhammad Bugti, the spokesman of the BRP, in a telephonic message to this scribe from an undisclosed location.

He said that Bramdagh Bugti was safe and remained underground for sometime following the assassination of late Balach Marri and avoided contacting people for security reasons.

Sher Muhammad Bugti said that Bramdagh will seek political asylum in Switzerland and he had filed an application with the relevant authorities, which was being processed.

“He will continue to remain in contact with the UN and other officials exposing the massive human rights violations in Balochistan,” Sher Muhammad Bugti said.

He advised the BRP leaders, workers and activists to continue their struggle so that the mission of the “martyred” was achieved.

The government and its spokesman had been persistently claiming that Bramdagh was in Afghanistan and was leading the Baloch insurgents from somewhere in that country. His issue was taken up with the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, during his last visit. The Afghan president promised to look into the matter.

Bramdagh constantly denied the claims made by some of the TV anchorpersons that he was in Afghanistan, and claimed that he was somewhere in Balochistan, among his people, waging a struggle.

A few days ago, Nawabzada Hyrbyair Marri was also given political asylum in Britain on an order from a British court.

LONDON: Britain has granted political asylum to Baluch leader Nawabzada Hyrbyair Marri, tacitly acknowledging that the life of fiery Baluch nationalist leader was at risk if returned to Pakistan.

Hyrbyair Marri, one of six sons of veteran Baloch leader Nawab Khair Baksh Marri, had applied for political asylum in Britain four months ago. He had entered Britain in 2000 after sneaking out of Pakistan where he was being sought by Pakistani spy agencies on various charges.

Initially Mr Marri’s asylum claim was turned down by the Home Office and stated in the refusal letter that Hyrbyair’s life will be safe in Pakistan as his father still lived in Karachi and didn’t face harassment from the state authorities. Hyrbyair took his case to the asylum and immigration tribunal where his lawyer successfully argued that not only Hyrbyair’s elder brother Balach Marri was assassinated by Pakistani secret services but also Mr Marri himself has not stepped inside Balochistan in 10 years.

The immigration judge was told that from former president Pervez Musharraf to the interior minister Rehman Malik had personally threatened and warned Hyrbyair of the repercussions for his 'what they called' anti-Pakistan activities. The defence argued that the continuing heavy-handed military operation in areas populated by the Bugtis and Marris, coupled with the ever-deteriorating law and situation in the country rendered Hyrbyair at the potential risk and law enforcement agencies could easily take him out.

Sources confirmed that, senior PPP government officials, including the foreign office, contacted the Home Office (in the UK) and assured them that Hyrbyair will be provided safety and security if returned and further assured the former Baluchistan assembly lawmaker-turned-rebel was only exaggerating threat to his life. Hyrbyair’s lawyers were successful in convincing the judge that the current civilian government was not only helpless in matters related to Baluchistan but it was also impotent in security matters concerning rest of the country as its writ was absent in even urban areas. In his evidence before the judge, Hyrbyair also criticised the British government for deliberately creating problems for him and his family on behest of the Pakistani government.

The judge acknowledged that Hyrbyair Marri was a high profile figure who had annoyed the establishment by taking a stance on Baluchistan issue not sanctioned by the security establishment.

Hyrbyair was arrested alongside a young Baluch rights campaigner Faiz Baluch on December, 4, 2007. They were charged on charges of inciting others to commit murder abroad. Mr Marri spent 4 months in jail whereas Faiz Baluch was detained for 8 months. After a lengthy trail of over 40 days the duo were acquitted by an ordinary British Jury of 12 men and women. Faiz Baluch, who applied for political asylum in 2002, his case, is still in a limbo and the young campaigner remains clueless about his fate in Britain.

Speaking to media sources, Hyrbyair referred to his first exoneration on terrorism charges, brought on the special request of Pervez Musharraf, said that being granted asylum was nothing to be celebrated about.

“It pains me more that I am not with my people who are standing steadfast against the state onslaught. I am glad though that I have been exonerated for the second time, not by the British government but by the British courts. The British government knows there are serious problems in Balochistan but doesn’t have the courage to stand up to Pakistan. The neutral immigration court has given its verdict in my favour by acknowledging the fact the meltdown in Baluchistan is for real and that life has been made difficult for those who seek independence. I knew that British justice system will not let me and the people of Baluchistan down. These are independent courts, free of political influence.”

He said that now when he is able to travel, he will meet the Baluch Diaspora across the world and will galvanise and unite them for the Baluch struggle for justice and Independence.

Peter Tatchell has been at the forefront of campaigning for the release of Hyrbyair Marri from the detention in Belmarsh prison. He expressed his joy that Mr Marri was granted asylum in Britain, albeit with a lot of delay.

“This decision to grant Hyrbyair asylum is very significant. It is an acknowledgement by the British government that human rights abuses in Baluchistan are so widespread and grave that Mr Marri cannot return their safely. This ruling is a damning indictment of the severe political repression that exists in Pakistan.

The human rights advocate added: “It is further evidence that Baluch people who want the right of self determination are at risk of imprisonment torture and assassination by the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies.

Another young member of BSO-azaad killed by Pakistan security forces

Occupied Balochistan: The dead body of a regional president of Baloch Students Organization (BSO-Azad) activist was recovered from Aktharbad, in the outskirts of Quetta on Saturday, police said.

Unidentified people informed Shalkot police station that found body near Sardar Karez in Aktharabad area. Police rushed to the site and moved the body to Bolan Medical Complex Hospital for autopsy where he was identified as Ali Jan Kurd, a resident of Machh. Ali Jan Kurd was president of BSO-A Machh Zone.

Police sources said that there were wounds on the head of victim and torture marks on his body. Police handed over the body to heirs after completing legal formalities.

Family sources said that Ali Jan Kurd was picked up near Sibbi on November 23, 2010 and held government agencies responsible for his brutal killing.

Previously the Pakistan intelligence abducted and killed Ali Sher Kurd a cousin of Ali Jan andMumtaz Kurd who according some sources was the brother of Young Ali Jan. UK Baloch Activists Staged A Protest Demonstration Against Human Rights Violations In Balochistan

London: A large number of Baloch and their friends have gathered at 10 Dawning Street, London to protest against continuation of Human Rights abuses in Baluchistan by Pakistan and Iran. The protesters demanded of the British government to stop supporting Pakistan as the country was committing atrocities in Balochistan and carrying out the genocide of Baloch Nation.

The fundamentalist states of Pakistan and Iran are presently engaged in a vicious competition in their policy of abduction, torture, hanging and under-custody killing of Baloch political and human rights activists. The aim of the protest was to highlight such atrocious actions of Iran and Pakistan and to bring the plight of the Baloch Nation to the attention of International community. The protest was part of our monthly “Save Balochistan Campaign” by International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons. Activists from South Azerbaijan Independence Party, CAMPACC and Al-Ahwaz Democratic Popular Front have also joined the protest to show their solidarity with the people of Balochistan.

Speaking from the occasion the Baloch activists said that both Pakistan and Iran are continuing their atrocities in Balochistan with impunity and the International Community and International Human Rights Organisation have failed to take notice of the arrests, disappearance, under-custody killings and executions of numerous Baloch civilian and political activists by these occupying states.

Describing the atrocities of Iran and Pakistan the Baloch activists said that Iran has executed at least six innocent Baloch (confirmed) in January 2011 and dozens have been arrested during raids from different town of Balochistan.

Pakistan also continues it “kill and dump policy” in Balochistan. The Pakistan military intelligences and Intelligence agencies killed at least 80 Baloch activists under-custody in the last six months of 2010. Year 2011 seems no different than the previous years as the state (Pakistan) continues to commit the genocide of Baloch nation.

On 3 January 2011 a member of Baloch student Organisation (azaad), Faraz Baloch was shot dead by Pakistan government agents in Karachi and seriously injured four of his friends. On the night of 4 January 2011 the dead body of Sardarzda Yousaf Langov Baloch was found in a cannel in Kirani area of Quetta. On 4 January 2011 three Baloch including father and brother of an abducted Baloch student Yasir Baloch have been arrested from Trubat on the same night.

On 5 January 2011 further two bodies of Baloch students were discovered from Turbat. The victims were identified as Chakar Qambar Baloch, a Central Committee Member of BSO-azaad, and Ilyas Nazar Baloch. Ilyas was a young journalist who was working for a Balochi language magazine Dhorant. The occupying states have been targeting and killing the most conscience and well-informed section of our society. On 6 January 2011 the body of Aazam Badini has been found in Noshki whereas on 8 January 2011 bodies of two Marri Baloch were discovered near panjgor town of Balochistan.

The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons has urged the Baloch Diasporas to join the “Save Balochistan Campaign” by organising meetings and protests in the respective countries where they reside. The IVBMP also urged the Baloch to meet the representatives of different human rights organisations, MPs, MEPs and Human Rights Groups affiliated with the UN Human Rights Council to inform them about the plight of Baloch people.

Second day: Balochistan shuts down to protest student leaders’ killing

* Strike observed in several cities of province on Baloch National Front’s call

Occupied Balochistan: A shutter down and wheel-jam strike was observed in many parts of Balochistan on Friday to protest against the killings of two Baloch student leaders, Qambar Chakar and Ilyas Nazar. The bullet-riddled bodies of the two students were found from Kech district on Wednesday.

The strike was also observed in Trubat, Mand, Tump, Khuzdar, Naal, Zehri, Naushki, Buleida, Gwadar, Pasni, Jiwani, Panjgur, Ormara, Dasht Plains, Hoshap, Kalat, Mashkay, Hub and Mastung in response to a call made by the Baloch National Front (BNF).

Most of the shopping and commercial centres remained closed for the day and the streets wore a deserted look with no traffic plying on the roads. There was very thin attendance in government offices in the absence of the public transport.

Women staged a protest rally in Turbat and marched through various parts of the city. They chanted slogans against the Frontier Corps, accusing them of killing the two Baloch students in illegal custody.

The protesters also burnt tyres on the Coastal Highway disrupting the flow of traffic.

Tough security measures were adopted during the strike to avoid any untoward incident. Personnel of the Frontier Corps and police patrolled the streets of Kech Valley — from Awaran to the border wih Iran. Unidentified people torched a private vehicle in Mastung.

According to a statement issued by the BNF on Friday, the strike will also be held today (Saturday).

Earlier, two bullet-riddled dead bodies of the student leaders were found in a deserted place near Pasni Road in Turbat, around 800 kilometres away from the provincial capital on Wednesday.

According to the Turbat police, local people spotted two bodies in Pidarak area, some 11-kilometres away from Turbat city, and informed the police. The dead bodies were taken to the Civil Hospital where they were identified as Qambar Chakar and Ilyas Nazar. (Courtesy: dailytimes)

On 31 December last year bullet riddled bodies of four disappeared Baloch were found in Turbat. The victims were named as Shoaib Baloch, Naimatullah Baloch and Attaullah Baloch. Pakistan continue Kill and dump policy in Balochistan, two students killed

Occupied Balochistan: The Pakistani Intelligence agencies has tortured to death another two innocent Baloch youth as part of their “kill and dump policy”. The severely tortured bodies of the Baloch youth were found in Pedarak area of Turbat on Tuesday Morning.

The victims were identified as Qambar Chakar Baloch, a central committee member of BSO-azaad and Ilyas Nazar Baloch, a young Baloch journalist of a Balochi language magazine.

Qambar Chakar Baloch 24 was Central Committee member of BSO AZAD and a student of Economics at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITMS). Previously he had been abducted on July 10, 2009, from Quetta. But he was released without any charges on 22 April 2010. His relatives had complained that he had been subjected to severe torture and inhuman treatment during his imprisonment.

His freedom was, however, shot-lived as on November 26, 2010 he has been re-abducted from Shahi Tump Turbat along with his cousin Irshaad Nasir Baloch. This time he was not lucky enough to reunite with his family. The Pakistani security forces tortured him to death and dumped his body on a deserted road side in Turbat on 05/01/2010.

Ilyas Nazar 26 an MSC student from Balochistan University and member of BSO Azad in Shaal zone. He had been abducted by "Pakistani fascist forces" on December 22, 2010. Both of the young Baloch students were brutally tortured and it is assumed that they were tortured to death. There were several sign of bullet wounds on in the heads and rest of the body of the Baloch youth. Qambar chakar has been shot in the head several times and his right arm was broken from two places. KARACHI:Around 13,300 Baloch people are missing since 2000 to till date, claimed by Baloch nationalist leaders raising voice of its nation. Qadeer Baloch, Vice Chairman, Voiced for Baloch Missing Persons, while talking to Business Recorder on Tuesday claimed that so far 13,300 Baloch nationals had been made missing in which 147 women were included.

Baloch complained that Supreme Court Judicial Commission for missing persons had also been failed. The report of the commission is based on dishonesty and biased and we rejected the report completely, he maintained. Baloch said the tenure of the commission was earlier six months but later it was extended twice for three months but after one year neither any member of the commission went to the home of missing persons nor any information was provided about the torture cells.

According to Baloch, Frontier Constabilary (FC) personnel started operation in an area of Quetta city Kulli Kambrani two days back in the night when temperature was freezing and people including children and women were forced to spend the whole night above the sky while at the end of operation FC personnel arrested 70 men and took along with them.

Baloch said there is law of the jungle in Balochistan while adding it is necessary for police to produce the detained person before Magistrate within 24 hours but no one was produced.

We have been organising hunger strike camps at Karachi, Islamabad and Balochistan for one year and we organised to hold a camp in Karachi third time on December 19, 2010, but despite passing 10 days nothing happened, Baloch claimed. Occupied Balochistan: Baloch nation should abandon their personal interests and join the ranks of those who are fighting for the freedom of Balochland. It is the demand of time and situation that Baloch must unite and stand against the enemy of Baloch Nation. These views were been expressed by a senior commander of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in video message which has been posted on Youtube and distributed to news agencies in Balochistan. The masked BLA commander said “We are at war against the enemy of Baloch Nation. We are fighting for the Independence of Balochistan. We salute all those mothers, sisters and father who’s loved ones are being killed in custody by enemy forces. However, these atrocities are not unexpected because the path that we have chosen is full of difficulties and we have to be ready for sacrifices both mentally and physically”.

The BLA commander who spoke both Balochi and Brahui (dialect of Balochi) said that Baloch have been living on this land for thousands of years. Their language, culture and traditions are much different than those who occupied this land. It is our right to stop those who occupied our motherland and they are robbing our natural resources. The outsiders are treating Baloch as their slaves in their own country. We (Baloch) must ask these occupiers that who has given them the right to rule on our land? Is a God-given right, any human authorized them or is it just the greed which forced them to invade our land? Baloch youth are being martyred for asking these simple questions. The atrocities of the state have exceeded all the limits and no Baloch feels safe in their own country.

The Baloch commander said they were disappointed and surprised on how their own Baloch brothers have been brainwashed to take side of the enemy and provide them information against Baloch fighters. “They (enemies) are trying to create hurdles for us in our own homes”. Without naming anyone the BLA commander said that “These (agents) are the stooges and remainders of the British who have become so powerless that they cannot breathe before their Punjabi masters. They are killing Baloch youth to gain two time bread from themselves. Those youth have abandoned their homes and personal gains for the interest of Baloch Nation and freedom of Balochland”.

In their video message the BLA fighters requested the Baloch nation to expose the faces of enemy agents. Even though the BLA has made their policy how to deal with these collaborators, however, the Baloch Nations should also decide what to do with them because greater responsibility lies on the shoulders of Baloch Nation. Everyone must socially boycott those who are sitting in the lap of the enemies of Balochistan. “We (Baloch) should cut off all ties from these stooges of enemy and stop following them to make them realize that they are isolated and not from us”. These agents of enemy are so powerless that they can’t even raise their heads and now they are waving their tails to point the directions of liberation seeking Balochs.

The message of BLA further said that these agents are neither Nawab nor Sadar they are only stooges of enemy and BLA has made a policy how sort them out. Baloch Nation must also recognize them; they hired thieves, criminal and bandits at the hands of enemy and the enemy is using them against Baloch freedom fighters to harm the Baloch Nation cause.

BLA in their message appealed the Baloch Nation to expose such people and inform Baloch political forces and the BLA about their black deeds. The collaborators do not deserve forgiveness. They should not think that they can weaken the Baloch freedom struggle by taking advantage of Baloch weaknesses. “They are not from us (Baloch) and we do not consider them as our people; they were living on the pieces of enemy and now they depend on Punjabis”. If they are being well fed by the Punjabis and cannot do anything against their master then at least they must not talk against Baloch freedom fighters; if they cannot do anything they must keep quite. “If they still do not understand then BLA knows how to punish them”.

The BLA message further said that “We (BLA) are an organization and we are taking forward a program, which is the freedom of Balochistan. BLA is not the whole Baloch nation neither do we make any such claims. We ask all Baloch political parties, and freedom loving Baloch youth to unite if they believe in the cause of liberation and follow our ideology. We should keep aside our petty tribal issues and personal interests (egoism); stand together against the common enemy of Baloch Nation. We are only Baloch and that’s what we should call ourselves if we want to progress and prosperous. It is the demand of the time and current circumstances that we should leave behind tribal interests and protect our (Baloch) National interests”.

BLA commander further urged the Baloch Nation to decide one day as “NATIONAL REMEMBERCE DAY” to pay tributes to Baloch Martyrs instead of holding each martyrs day separately. On this day we should send a unanimous massage to International World that those youth, men and women of our Nation who have sacrificed their present for our future will be remembered as our heroes. This day we must tell the world that Baloch martyrs sacrificed their lives for nothing less than free Balochistan.

In their video message BLA also suggested that one day should be nominated as “Mehr Rouch” [National Unity or affection Day] to show solidarity with Baloch sarmachaars and to prove to the world that Baloch Nation rallies behind the Baloch freedom fighters. At the end of their video message BLA saluted the Martyrs of Balochistan and their families for their courageous fight against occupying forces. They termed the statements and messages of Baloch freedom loving people as a source of inspiration for Baloch freedom fighters.

The video message was dedicated to Saheed Irfan, Shaheed Sarwar aka Khalil Baloch, Shaheed Warna Majeed Zehri Baloch and Shaheed Sami Mengal. Bodies of four Baloch abducted youth discovered, police arrested 80 Baloch in Quetta

Occupied Balochistan: Four dead bodies of missing persons have been found from different areas in Balochistan. The deceased have been identified and Baloch Nationalists protested against the continued recovery of the bodies of abducted Baloch political activists.

Ayub Tareen of BBC reported that bodies of Faraz Sarparah and Zubair Sarparah have been found near Killi Qambarani area on Sunday morning (Today). The victims had been shot in the head and their corpses were stuffed in rucksack. The police have shifted the bodies to Bolan Medical Complex for identification.

On the other hand two bodies of Shahzian Marri and Sohbat Marri were found in Dasht area 20 kilometres in the south of Quetta. Dasht Levy forces have shifted their bodies to a hospital in Quetta. Official sources from Quetta reported that notes were found from the pockets of the victims with their names written on them.

The two bodies in Killi Qambarani were found on the exact location where two days ago a police vehicle was attacked, as a result of the attack one police sub-inspector was killed and five policemen were injured. The police have arrested 80 people on suspicious after this attack on the police team.

The residents of killi Qambarani protested against these arrests on Sunday at Quetta Press Club. The protesters strongly condemned the in-custody killings of Baloch abducted activists. They demanded the immediate release of 80 innocent people who were arrested from killi Qambarani in past 24 hours.

Occupied Balochistan: The Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) – Azad on Saturday held a demonstration to protest the kidnapping of its activists and demanded that international humanitarian organisations intervene in the matter.

The demonstration was held at the Quetta press club. Protesters chanted slogans against the government and security forces accusing them of killing political opponents while in custody.

Addressing the protesters, BSO leader Banuk Andalaib criticised the judiciary for being a mere “spectator” in dealing with the issue of missing persons and the extra-judicial arrest of young Baloch people and political opponents.

“The chief justice took notice of missing prisoners but completely ignored the long-standing issue of missing Balochs and the worsening human rights situation in Balochistan in which the security agencies are directly involved,” she said. Andalaib added that attitude towards Baloch people can be gauged by how they received decomposed bodies of their loved ones during the holy month of Ramazan and even on the eve of Eid.

The protesters urged the United Nations and other international humanitarian organisations to intervene and take notice of the “inhumane treatment” of Baloch political opponents.

Summary: On October 4, 2010, 17-year-old engineering student Jamal Baloch traveled to the Al-Noor Hotel in Karachi. As he pulled up to the hotel in a rickshaw, two men emerged from a silver colored, 4-door car and started to walk towards him. Jamal, fearing he would be abducted like other Baloch youth, fled.

On October 10, Jamal went to college where two policemen jumped him from behind and pushed him into a car with the help of two persons in civilian dress. In the car the men started to question Jamal, speculating that since he had been in Mand and Gwadar he should know something about the sarmachars (Baloch resistance). Jamal responded that he was a student in Karachi for the last three to four years and didn't know anything about that--he shouted and cried that he didn't know anything.

The man sitting to his left then held him tight and removed a syringe. Jamal struggled and the person on his right grabbed his neck while the other person gave him an injection. The men continued to question him regarding who and where the sarmachar in Mand and Gwadar were. Jamal started to feel drowsy. The men continued to question him while making fun of him. They threatened that if they gave him another injection, he'd go 'insane' and lose his mind. They beat him as they questioned him. They said if you don't know anything, work for us. You should work as our informant. They threatened that if he didn't work for them, they would again abduct him, torture him and give him another injection that would make him completely insane. They told him, 'You are a student, your life is in your hands now.' After torturing him for 4 to 5 hours, they dumped him at the location where they had first picked him up.

Jamal then made his way to his friend's house via rickshaw and the friend and his brother took him to Aga Khan Hospital. The doctors performed several tests. Doctors said he should be admitted to the hospital as the injection he received may cause an infection. Jamal declined, fearing the men would return.

Following this ordeal, Jamal fell ill. His left side is still numb. He feels emotionally disturbed and his memory is affected. He has trouble sleeping. "I think my life is ruined now." He feels he can't continue his studies, nor can he stay at home, nor can he go out for work. He's afraid he will be treated like the others who are abducted--tortured and dumped at roadsides. The fear is with him all the time.

Jamal Baloch's statement: I appeal to the United Nations, Amnesty International, the Arab League, the European Nation and other human rights organizations to take note: a student like me has been abducted and tortured. There are thousands of other innocent young students in Balochistan who are also missing, being brutally tortured and killed. No one is drawing attention to all these inhumane activities of the Pakistani army.

BRP seeks recovery of Baloch missing persons

KARACHI: Baloch Republican Party (BRP) has demanded to bring back thousands of Baloch missing persons who were detained illegally and voiced its concern over the silence of United Nations on this matter. BRP's representative said that over 15,000 Baloch people including women, children and elders had been arrested and we have a list of missing persons containing around 13,300 missing Balochs.

BRP organised a demonstration On Thursday and set up a camp outside press club where pictures of missing Balochs are placed. CAMPACC launches briefings on ‘terrorist’ bans

London: UK bans on organisations deter people from speaking out about injustices in their homelands by prohibiting expressions of solidarity with groups deemed to be “terrorists”. These bans make the UK government complicit with oppressive regimes overseas. New briefing papers explain what this means for four communities– Kurds, Tamils, Baluch and Basques. Produced by CAMPACC in close collaboration with the four communities, the papers put the case for challenging the bans, for lifting them and thus for decriminalising migrant communities here.

On Monday 20 December the CAMPACC celebrated the launch of four new briefing papers that highlight the impact of UK government anti-terrorism legislation on migrant communities here. In particular, bans on organisations make the UK government complicit with oppressive regimes overseas; this neither enhances human rights nor protects our security.

The participants of the meeting also had the opportunity to hear contributions from representatives of four communities – Kurds, Tamils, Baluch and Basques (the subjects of the four papers). Speakers had explained how their communities are living in fear under the constraints imposed by the UK’s unjust laws. In particular, the ban on overseas organisations and support for liberation movements deters people from speaking out about injustices in their homelands by prohibiting expressions of solidarity with groups deemed to be “terrorists”. The speakers complained that when their respective communities are subjected to state terrorism the civilised world stands upon and watches in horror. They were of the view that states’ sponsored terrorism is much worse than the actions of non-state actors or the Organisations that are resisting state terror against the occupied communities.

Speakers and commentators also complained that the state forces, rogue regimes such as Iran, Pakistan, Israel, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Spain and several others continue their terror on Nations under their occupation with impunity and the western democracies do not ban or proscribe them.

The papers question the bans by showing how they unfairly criminalise communities and curtain freedoms that should be regarded as fundamental rights.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Vicki Sentas, School of Law King’s College and CAMPACC whereas the speakers include Jeremy Corbyn MP, Cumarasamy Chithambarapillai a Tamil lawyer, Kasim Agpak of Kurdish Federation UK, Nobat Marri, a Baloch activist who spoke on Hybyair Marri’s behalf and Kiko Moraiz of London Basques Solidarity Campaign. Occupied Balochistan: A complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strike was observed in the coastal town of Pasni on Wednesday against the kidnap of Siddique Eddo, a human rights activist, and two BSO-Azad workers. The relatives of Yousaf Baloch and Siddique Eddo had given the strike call. All education institutions, business and commercial centres, government and private offices remained closed for the second successive day on Wednesday.

Roads were blocked with barricades and the town wore a deserted look. The relatives of Yousaf and Siddique staged a protest demonstration in front of the Pasni Press Club for more than five hours. She said that after the statement of Pakistani federal interior minister Rehman Malik in Quetta about “selected killings in Balochistan” the state forces have target killed several member of BSO-azaad. On 23 December six decomposed bodies of Baloch youth had been discovered near Pishin district. Nobody could recognize the corpses of these youth because they had been subjected to brutal torture, their heads were severed from their bodies and tongues cut off. On 31 October the bullet riddled body of Asim Karim Baloch had been found. Asim was BSO-azaad’s Multan zone’s organizer. Banuk Karima expressed these views after taking part in a political workshop in Atta Shaad boys’ college.

She further said that the International Community must acknowledge Baloch National movement for freedom and stop supporting Pakistan because the financial aid that Pakistan gets from the world is being used to crush Baloch freedom struggle. “Further delay and denial of the world to recognize Baloch National struggle will make the peace in the region impossible and no trade deals will be allowed”.

While commenting on parliamentary politics she said that Baloch parliamentarians are equally responsible for the abductions of pro-freedom activists and their subsequent killings in captivity. These (parliamentarian) are trying to scare the Baloch Nation in the name of civil war and trying to sabotage Baloch struggle on International forums in the name of economic difficulties or poverty.

She said hundreds of BSO members including Zakir Majeed, Qambar Chakar and Comrade Qayum Baloch are still missing and dozens have been killed in custody. She alleged that Pakistan regular army in FC uniform is involved in custodial killings of Baloch youth across Balochistan. Amnesty International in their latest report on Balochistan also accepted this fact, she said. The international community must immediately raise voice against Pakistan atrocities and acknowledge the Baloch National Liberation Struggle, she urged.

The Iranian Shiite regime hanged eleven young Baluch on Sunday 19/12/ 2010. These eleven young men were innocent; they were killed to revenge Chahbahar Mosque bombing. The Iranian regime is killing Baluch in order to satisfy its mobs.

The people of western Baluchistan historically belong to once was the tribal confederation of Baluchistan. Western Baluchistan historically is not part of Iran. The Iranian forces invaded Baluchistan in 1928.

The people of western Baluchistan are ethnically Baluch, religiously Sunni. Iran is Shiite majority state ruled according to Shiite (Fegheh) or on supreme Shiite religion leader wishes.

The religious minorities have some constitutional right in Shiite Iran, but Baluch and Sunni are not recognized as a minority group, therefore they have no legal rights. The Iranian regime has followed the policies to impose Shiite religion on Sunni and the Persian culture on Baluch.

The Iranian regime cannot tolerate any activity other than the state approved policies. The Sunni Baluch religious scholars have always stated that Baluch would not wave their religious autonomy under no circumstance whatever will be the consequences.

Baluch have an old saying; do not die in vain, resist the death, if not then face it with dignity.

There are non violence political parties in western Baluchistan. They have been struggling to convey the voice of voiceless Baluch to the international community that the Baluch in western Baluchistan are suffering from the systematic genocide by Iranian. The western states and the Unite Nation have deliberately ignored the Baluch people’s plea.

There are religious leaning Baluch political parties like Jundullah committed to religious cause and welling to scarify their wealth and life in order to protect their way of life, values and property. They are welling to use an extreme violence if necessary to protect, sustain and cherish their culture and religion in their historical homeland.

Iranian regime has been killing the Baluch since 1980 in the name of communist, nationalist, western agent, drug dealer and capitalists, and now it has reach to the last defense wall, religion. The Jundullah emerged as a political origination in 2005, and started arm struggle in 2007. Iranian never tolerated Baluch, non Shiite regardless of Jundullah, they never been short of justification to kill Baluch.

The Iranian regime hanged 40 young Baluch on cranes in the public square last month and has killed eleven innocent young men on Sunday 19/12/2010.

Is the Baluch life worth less than other human being? The entire world is concerned about Iranian nuclear bomb, why the world is not concerned about genocide in Baluchistan?

The two suicide Bombers in Chahbahar killed about 39 people. One do not wish to draw a paradox from the lost of human life as every life is valuable and has to be preserved, but Iranian regime has killed 51 people within one month or eleven people on a single day on the spot, on the same time because of their religion and ethnicity. Or there were in wrong place at the wrong time.

The state is the guardian of property and life. If the state fails to protect properties of individuals and preserve and sustain their way of life, it has no right to exist. The Baluch dignity, property and life are not safe under the Iranian regime. What Baluch should do under the circumstances, no one has an answer for it. The Baluch stand alone in the world.

If the American president and European Union had designed Iran as a terrorist state and condemned the hanging of 40 Baluch in the single month or eleven human beings on the single day in western Baluchistan, the Baluch had been in a situation where a young man has to kill himself.

I am not in favour of suicide attacks, there were never been a good justification for it. In my opinion people should not be into a situation where they cannot see a future for themselves. Baluch are put into situation where there is no difference between life and death. The Iranian regime is the accountable for the situation it has created in Baluchistan.

I deplore the squalor and neglect of Baluchistan. I deplore the discrimination to which the Baluch are subjected and alienation from their culture to which they are doomed in to poverty and ejected from the state high culture.

Three more people abducted by "government agencies" in Balochistan

Occupied Balochistan: State functionaries allegedly whisked away three people, including a human rights activist, in two separate incidents near Pasni and coastal highway Ormara in Pakistani occupied Balochistan.

According to a press released issued by HRCP's Balochistan chapter, "government agents" abducted human rights activist Siddique Eido from Pasni on Tuesday.

"Eido was returning from a court hearing along with his brother when, on main Gwadar Road, several men in two vehicles used by the intelligence agencies in the area stopped the van the two brothers were travelling in and abducted Eido. At least four policemen were also travelling in the same van with the two brothers and were reportedly manhandled by the abductors," said the statement.

"Four police personnel were also in the vehicle and they humiliated and manhandled them when they put up resistance," the Daily Times quoted HRCP Balochistan Chairman Dr Mehdi Hassan, as saying in the press release.

The HRCP had serious concerns that the personnel would subject them to severe torture, and that their lives were in danger, said Hassan, demanding their immediate and safe release.

In another incident, Ilyas Baloch, a student of the University of Balochistan, was going to Ormara from Pasni in a passenger van when armed men intercepted him and took him away at gunpoint. His relatives claimed that he was abducted by security personnel.

The Baloch Students Organisation-Azad spokesman said in a statement that Ilyas was a BSO-Azad activist, and had been whisked away by security forces. (ANI)

Nowadays reports of under detention killings of Baloch youths received from different parts of Balochistan are highly disturbing, these report are promptly confirmed because of easy availability of electronic media and mostly believed in general public, because, given the volatile situation of Balochistan, anything is possible. But international media is not being allowed to inter Balochistan for assessing the grave situation what is going on in that part of world and the Journalists related to local media are high targets of Pakistani state sponsored terrorism.

Baloch armed guerillas forces have now increased their attacks on Pakistani occupying forces across Balochistan. In response, the frustrated ultra-nationalist Punjabi generals and bureaucrats have now adopted a counter strategy of abduction- kill and dump of soft targets. This is to prevent the energetic part of Baloch society, the youths from joining the Baloch national movement. And being more sinister, the teachers, students and Journalists are also its prime targets to deprive Baloch society of its literati.

The president of Khuzdaar Press Club, Mohamd Khan Sasoli, has been gunned down in the close vicinity of his house by unknown motorcyclists, when he was returning back home after finishing his duty from Press Club. The 36 years old Journalist was a father of a son. It is noteworthy here to mention that Mohmad khan is the first Journalist became the victim of target killing after the under detention tormented killing of Lala Hameed, a Journalist was based in Gwader city, who was found dead with marks of tortures on his body in a deserted place along with his friend Ismail.

Yesterday, tortured bodies of five missing persons were found in desolate areas of different districts and cities, from Mand town Raziq Lateef, from Khuzdaar city Ibrahim Husni and Noora Baloch, from Tump district town Yousif Baloch, and from Karachi city Saifulla Bugti. And yesterday, as I was writing this article I received a call from a reliable source that said tortured body Huda e Rahim a political worker from Quetta, his body was found in a deserted area on Quetta-Taftan road with a notice in his pocket which read “Bangulzai was a friend of Ali Sher Kurd and belong to BLA. He has received his punishment and others like him will also meet the same fate” claimed by a previously unknown organization, “Mujahdeen Balochistan”. It has been observed that Baloch resistant forces are targeting Pakistani army and its installations.

Yet the state sponsored terrorist organizations, Lashker e Jangvie, a much closed affiliate of Talban, lashaker e Taeyaba and Al-Qaida from Jumiet e Ulmae Islam side, is said to be involved in the target killing of teachers, journalists and political workers in Balochistan at the behest of Pakistani state agencies and Punjabi army.

Baloch Musaleh Defie Tanzeem, a pocket organization of Pakistani political establishment, tasked with the responsibility of particularly targeting those Baloch Journalists and political workers, who are outspoken of Pakistani state policies regarding the Baloch national question in the historical perspective.

Pakistani state has changed the commander of its occupying forces in Balochistan. Gen Salim Nawaz, a Punjabi ex corps commander of FC in Balochistan, who, under the command of Gen Musharraf had carried out the genocide of Baloch youths and martyred Nawab Akber Bugti, has been replaced by a Pashtun mercenary general from Khaiber Pashtunkhowa province , Gen Ubaidullah Khan khatak, to head Frontier Corps and continue the legacy of its Punjabi master. Now he has taken the charge of Baloch genocide “as a Pashtun” under the command of Punjabi Gen Ashfaq Kayani

The sole object of changing the command of FC from a Punjabi to a Pashtun mercenary is to exonerate Punjab of its crime ridden record of genocide of Baloch nation, and shifting the blame on a Pashtun military General, whereby Punjabi dominated Pakistani state could justify its use of force against Baloch public in the name of restoring the state writ in the “so called Balochistan province” and implying that Pakistan is a country where all are equally represented.

It was the Khuzdar Cantonment where the Pushtoon mercenary General of Punjab made its first visit when he was appointed as the corps commander of FC in Balochistan. Where he met Mengal and Zehri sardars and then he went to Chaman as a guest of Mahmmod Achakzai, where on record he announced the induction of Pashtuns in Pak army from Pashtun dominated areas of Balochistan, he also said that as Khuzdaar and Quetta districts are with us, other remaining districts cannot make any trouble for us. It is noteworthy to mention here that the land on which the Khuzdar Cantonment is established belong to Zehri and Mengal brothers. It is more than 20 thousand acres land leased to Punjabi military by Mengal and Zehri brothers.

But Baloch resistance has ripped through the order of the tribal societies. Powerful tribes have been reduced into fraternity groups by resistance movement. The recent attacks on two high profile government officials by Baloch resistance forces show that Baloch society is fully controlled by Sarmachars (the freedom fighters). The CM and Governor are chieftains of their respective tribes, But unable to seek their revenge on Baloch resistance movement as it has broken all barrier of tribalism. Baloch Sarmachars, the freedom fighters, have now totally changed the landscape of resistance.

Pakistani state writ in Baluchistan’s social life is totally eroded, except the military cantonments and garrisons, where only Punjabi military personnel and with Pushton mercenary armed men are living. They are totally alienated from Baloch society, they have been rendered as estrange objects in Balochistan by Baloch nationalist forces.

Pakistani army personnel without heavy columns of armed vehicles cannot enter into Baluchistan’s cities and towns. The constant resistance of 10 years has worn the morale of Pakistan army across Balochistan. Its armed men are suffering from mental illnesses.

Apart from Armed resistance, in general society, people have now refused to pay utility bill, which is costing Pakistan billions of rupees. Without the presence of helicopters and tanks it is utterly an impossible task for Punjab army to make sure that Baloch natural gas is flowing into Punjab’s cities and factories from already depleted Gas fields of Balochistan.

Baloch students have refused to be taught Pakistan Study text books in schools, colleges and universities. Reciting Pakistani national anthem in all education institutions and schools in Balochistan is a sin. Pakistani flag can be seen hoisted only on its cantonments and military camps. In place of Pakistani flag, azad Balochistan flag is flying on all schools, colleges, shops and homes across Balochistan.

All provincial and national assembly members from Balochistan have now bought homes in Islamabad and want to leave Balochistan forever, because, they are isolated from Baloch society of general public. They are now called pariah in Baloch society for reasons that they have done nothing for Baloch national struggle for freedom. Instead they are believed to be the collaborators of enemy. Civil courts in Balochistan are deserted, as Baloch have abandoned the hope that their day to day social grievances would be redressed Pakistani courts. All courts in Balochistan are now engaged only with false cases framed against Baloch youths by occupying Punjabi military establishment as a measure of preventing them from the participation of freedom struggle.

However, Pakistani military is putting all blame of Baloch insurgency on India, Afghanistan and Russia; and particularly India is its prime target of the whole blame. But to defend themselves from Pakistani blames, it’s appropriate for neighboring countries, particularly for India to send the members of its civil societies to check if there is any Indian involvement in fomenting insurgency in Balochistan or not?

Iran hangs 11 Baloch for confronting the “sacred regime” of the Islamic Republic

Occupied Balochistan: The men were executed at dawn on Monday in Zahedan, the capital city of western occupied Balochistan. According to BBC, Ebrahim Hamidi, head of the provincial justice department, told state news agency Irna that the group had received a fair trial and had been charged with "corruption on earth, fighting against God and the Prophet and confronting the sacred regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran".

The executions have been carried out days after the deadly suicide bombing outside the Imam Hossein Mosque in the city of Chabahar on 15 December which killed and wounded scores.

Jundullah had accepted the responsibility of the attack. Founded in 2003, Jundullah (Soldiers of God) says it is fighting for the culture and faith of the Baluch people in Iranian occupied Balochistan or western occupied Balochistan.

The majority of Iran’s Baloch population lives in Sistan-Balochistan and adhere to the Sunni branch of Islam. They say that as a minority in a Shia state, they are persecuted by the authorities because of their faith and being Baloch.

The National reported that, a statement released after the executions warned all those with connections to Jundullah that the justice department of the province would not "hesitate for a moment in prompt execution of the sentences passed on armed insurgents and will decisively carry out the laws of Islam".

None of the men executed on Monday morning were said to have been involved in the suicide bombing on December 15 in the southern port city of Chabahar.

It is not clear when these men had been arrested or if they have received a fair trial. Usually, the court proceedings in Iran are peculiar, the state victims fate are decided by two religious leaders out of public sites. Anyone who stands up against Iranian state’s brutal policies is condemned to death by hanging.

Crackdown against Baloch people by Iranian forces after Chabahar attack

Occupied Balochistan: The Iranian security forces have started a massive crackdown against Baloch people after the attack on Imam Hussain Masjid in port city of Chabahar in Iranian occupied Balochistan. Most of the raids have taken place in Chabahar, Kunarak, Naikshahr, Kasarkand, Sarbaaz, Iranshah and other surrounding areas. Dozens of innocent people have been arrested and shifted to unknown locations from these above mentioned cities.

The Iranian interior ministry has confirmed the arrest of 9 people only - saying that they have been arrested in connection with the blasts in Chabahar. The Iranian interior department claims that they have strong evidence of these men’s involvement in the blast.

On the other hand the local residents rejected the Iranian interior ministry’s claims saying that over 50 innocent people have been arrested so far and raids are still taking places in different places. Majority of the arrested are students.

Meanwhile the Iranian ambassador Mr Mashallah Shakeri met the Pakistani federal interior minister Rehman Malik and conveyed him a letter of the Iranian government. The letter requested Pakistan to help Iran in investigating the Chabahar blast.

Earlier this month the Iranian security forces had raided Balochistan University –Zahedan hostel and arrested five student activists. The raid took place following a demonstration to mark the ‘Students’ Day’ in Iran.

Those arrested were named in ‘May Makran’ Persian blog as Behnam Brahovi, Mosa Rahimi, Mehdiye Sarabondi and Sayad Ali Parsa. The five activists were taken to an undisclosed location in an unmarked white colour vehicle. A number of doors and windows were smashed during the raid which also generated fear amongst students.

The Baloch people and analysts fear that Iran will use the attack in Chabahar as an excuse to intensify its brutalities across Balochistan. It is feared that more innocent Baloch people will be arrested, tortured or even executed by Iran in coming days and months.

BNM Threatens to Sabotage China-Pakistan Deals on Balochistan

Occupied Balochistan: The pro-independence Balochistan National Movement (BNM) has vowed to resist the recent deals between China and Pakistan pertaining to Balochistan by viewing them as anti-Baloch agreements intended to usurp Baloch national resources.

BNM, whose chairman Ghulam Mohammad Baloch was killed last year allegedly by the Frontier Corps (FC) after being whisked away from Turbat, is a staunch supporter of the ongoing armed struggle in Balochistan.

Chinese engineers working at Gwadar Port had been killed by Baloch armed groups in 2004 owing to the former’s resistance of Chinese presence in the resource-rich southwestern province, which currently accounts for Pakistan’s 43% of landmass.

In a statement issued to the media, Dr. Manan Baloch, BNM’s information secretary, said that Chinese Prime Minister’s recent visit to Pakistan came in such a precarious time when everyone wants to capture the land and resources of Balochistan but their designs were foiled by what he termed as “Baloch freedom forces”.

“China is trying to improvise their economic gain through occupying other gold and mineral resources, regarding this Baloch land has a geographical importance because of its highly gold reserves in Rekodik and Saindik project. But Baloch nation has proved that there is no imperial force in the world, including China, which can occupy the Baloch land. We will not accept any deals done with the neo-colonial forces,” he said. Yet another bullet riddled body of a Baloch youth found

Occupied Balochistan: The levy forces found a brutally tortured body near Koshik on Quetta-Taftan road. They shifted the body to district head quarter Mastung for identification.

According to eye-witnesses the body of the Baloch youth bore marks of sever torture and he had been shot in the head. His body was found in a deserted area on Quetta-Taftan road. The already desperate and worried family of missing persons rushed to head quarters but nobody recognised him. Later the victim’s body had been shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta.

Arif Baloch the brother of the deceased has identified him a Khuda Raheem Bangulzai of Sabzal Road Quetta. He said his brother had been abducted near Mastung few days ago. Sources said that a letter was found in the pocket of Mr Bangulzia, it was signed by a previously unknown group ‘Mujahideen Balochistan, which read “Bangulzai was a friend of Ali Sher Kurd and belong to BLA. He has received his punishment and others like him will also meet the same fate”.

The brother of Khuda Raheem Bangulzai along with Nasrullah Bangulzai, the chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, had held a press conference at Quetta Press Club on 12/12/2010 and they had accused the Pakistani security agencies for the abduction of Mr Bangulzai.

Five dead bodies of Baloch missing persons found

Occupied Balochistan: Four bodies riddle with bullets have been discovered from different areas in Balochistan, the identification of the bodies have been confirmed.

Baloch Nationalists says that more than 60 mutilated bodies have been discovered in different areas in Balochistan in past four months. BBC Urdu reporter Ayub Tareen has said that two bodies were found from Turbat town in Balochistan on Friday Morning. The Levy forces have shifted the bodies to civil Hospital.

According to BSO – azaad the victims have been identified as Yousaf Raza and Raziq Latif Baloch who had been abducted few days ago from Panjgor area of Balochistan.

On the other hand another two dead bodies have been found from Peshik area of Khuzdar town. The bodies have been shifted to Khuzdar Hospital. According to local reporters the victims have been named as Ibrahim Mohammad Hasni of Surab and Noor Ahmad of Peshik Khuzdar.

The Baloch Voice for Missing Persons, Balochistan, said that in last four months 60 bodies of Baloch missing persons have been found from different areas in Balochistan. The VBMP and Baloch Nationalists have always held the Pakistani intelligence agencies and security forces responsible for the abduction and subsequent killing of Baloch activists.

A fifth body is said to be of Saifullah Bugti found from Karachi. Bugti’s body also bore signs of gruesome torture and ill-treatment in captivity.

Iran arrested a young Baluch blogger

Occupied Balochistan:News published in a reputable Baluch site ‘Pahra’ reporting the arrest of a Baluch blogger by Iranians. The blogger named as Ebrahim Hossienbor was runningwww.estoun.blogfa.com where cultural and social content were published in Persian.

The reason for his arrest has not been revealed by Iranians as yet, but many believe being a Baluch and then educated or learnt is a good enough reason for Iran to arrest. Publishing your thoughts is seen an additional challenge by Iran.

Iranians arrested another Baluchistani blogger Yaghub Mehrnehad in 2007 and executed him the following year without a fair trial. Mehrnehad had highlighted the plight of trodden people of Baluchistan.

Recently the ‘blogfa’ company blocked access to Mehrnehad’s blog http://mehrnehad.blogfa.com/ saying it had unlawful content.

As a blogger we ask for tolerance and freedom of expression and demand the immediate release of Mr Ebrahim Hossienbor. We also urge Baluch bloggers to be cautious as they are faced with a brutal regime backed by chauvinists who are running Persian web servers.

Pakistan spooks kill brothers of forcibly disappeared: report

WASHINGTON DC: Brothers of at least two victims of enforced disappearances have been killed extra judicially by Pakistan intelligence services, a premier organization that helps protect human rights Voice of Copts was informed Thursday.

There have been cases in recent weeks a brother who tries to secure the release bof victim of enforced disapperances by creating public awarness is killed by the secret agencies.

Asim Karim Baloch, 18, was a student of Multan Polytechnic College and a member of Baloch Students Organization Azad. The teenager was abducted after he addressed a press conference against the abduction of his brother Tariq Karim Baloch.

Tariq Karim Baloch was abducted on 26 October 2010.

Asim Karim Baloch's body was found in Khanozai area on 1 November 2010.

Mujeeb Baloch, unit secretary of Baloch Students Organization Azad was abducted from Balochistan University on September 1, 2009 while his brother Yaseen Mohammed Shahi, who was running from pillar to post for the release of his brother was shot dead in Kalat town on October 10.

Fates of Tariq Karim Baloch and Mujeeb Baloch are not known.

Pakistan's human rights violations are happening under the very nose of the Department of State and Balochistan analysts in North America it seems like the late Afpak Czar, also called Raging Bull, Richard C. Holbrooke, had given an assurance the U.S. woud keep quiet on the miltary atrocities in Balochistan.

Military brutalities in Balochistan are part of the military's strategic depth policy that might turn Balochistan into a second Afghanistan if the cancer is not treated through balkanization of Pakistan, these Baloch analysts warn.

Abdul Sattar Purdely: Baloch intellectual from Afghanistan

A former MP during Najibullah´s rule and president of the Afghan Trade Unions of Afghanistan for more than ten years afterwards, Mr. Purdely is today one of the main advocates for the Baluch’s language and culture in Afghanistan, a work he conducts from his position at the Centre for Regional Studies of Afghanistan.

Abdul Sattar Purdley, what is the security situation for the Baluch in Nimroz and Helmand provinces?

Helmand is far from being under Kabul´s control and the local population, whether they are Baluch, Pashtun or Tajik, are suffering the most direct consequences of this war. The situation in Nimroz is a bit better. Zaranj, the provincial capital, is under the control of Kabul but NATO is not present except for a small military presence in Delaram district, on the opposite side of the borders with West and East Baluchistan. Neither is there a PRT (Provincial Reconstruction Team). The Taliban are in control of Delaram, Khashrod and the border area with Pakistan. Travelling by road is still very dangerous in Nimroz and the Baluch are an easy target for the Taliban there.

Does the tribal system apply to North Baluchistan?

The tribal system is alive in Nimroz and Helmand, being the main tribes the Rakhshani, the Narui and the Brahui. Ours is a very backward region in Afghanistan that lives on agriculture but has serious water problems because Iran is controlling the water traffic.

Switching to cultural issues, when did the Baluch’s language and culture start to get support in Afghanistan?

Daud´s dictatorship (1973-78) witnessed the first radio programs in Baluchi. Two months after his fall, a TV channel in our language was set in Nimroz (North Baluchistan). Under the control of the Russians, we had six hours of radio in Baluchi for the entire country and fully in Baluchi in Nimroz. It was also then when we printed the first newspapers and books in our language. According to the census conducted at that time by the Soviets conducted, the Baluch in Nimroz comprise over a 64% of the population.

What happened during the Taliban regime?

After the fall of the Communist Government there was a sharp cultural decline in the country. Those years marked a blow not only to Baluch’s culture, but for culture as a whole. The repression was brutal against us because, among other things, we are moderate Muslims, far away from the Salafist ideology. I myself was taken prisoner by the Taliban so I took refuge in Western Baluchistan and did not come back until 2002.

Have things improved for the Afghan Baluch since then?

We had to start from the very ashes so it was not difficult. When I came back we set up Nimroz Carawan (Organization for Baluch’s culture and language) and we’ve been working from this platform ever since. Today, however, we only have a 5% quota for Baluchi in Nimroz and no more than half an hour a day. Accordingly, the former department for the Baluchi language at the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan has been removed. On a positive note, the Government started publishing Baluchi language school books for the children in Nimroz and the Baluch villages in Helmand two years ago. I myself have written the 7th, 8th and 9th grade ones.

What is the current situation of the Baluchi language in Afghanistan?

We estimate there are between one million and a half and two million Baluch in Afghanistan but not all of them speak Baluchi. Those in Kandahar, Wardak, Uruzgan and Balkh provinces speak Pashtun while the Baluch in Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar and Dai Kundi speak Dari (local variant of Persian). Today only those in the provinces of Helmand and Nimroz speak Baluchi.

Are you in touch with the Baluch from West and East Baluchistan?

Our contacts are mainly at an individual level but because our families are divided by those artificial borders but we do share our TV and radio programs in Baluchi with our people in the east. When we organized our seminar on Baluch’s language and Culture at the Centre for Regional Studies in Afghanistan, we had Mir Ghaus Bakhsh Bezanjo’s son as a guest speaker. We also have a fluent communication with Attaullah Mengal.

Did you ever meet the Marris during their exile in Afghanistan?

Of course! I met Khair Bakhsh Marri and his family 1981 for the first time. He was in Helmand and I was in Kabul, we used to gather at the weekends. The Marris and the Bugtis have always suffered a terrible pogrom in the east so a lot of them came here.

How do you foresee the future of your people in Afghanistan?

Since the division of our territory three we have faced terrible episodes of repression by the hegemonic groups in the region: the Persians in Iran, the Punjabis in Pakistan and the Taliban here, in Afghanistan. Northern Baluch have always had good relations with the rest of the nations in the country, especially the Hazaras. The wife of one of the main Hazara leader is Baluch herself. We are small nation inside Afghanistan but we have demonstrated that we can live together with Pashtuns, Hazaras, Tajik and Uzbek neighbours.

The Baloch have been resisting the subjugating policies of the occupying nations for the last hundred and seventy years. In their struggle for regaining their sovereignty and national honour, the Baloch has been facing the brutal repressive measures of the occupying states. Their homeland Balochistan is mainly divided into Pakistani and Iranian occupied Balochistan. From the very beginning these two states used their military might and inhuman tactics to suppress the Baloch national struggle for liberation. The situation in Iranian and Pakistani occupied Balochistan for the last many years is grave in a humanitarian perspective. Hundreds of the Baloch have been publicly hanged after summary trials in various parts of Western Balochistan by various Iranian regimes. In Pakistani occupied Balochistan, thousands have been killed in military operations, thousands of the Baloch became homeless, and thousands known and unknown Baloch have been abducted by the security agencies. The fate of these missing persons is still unknown; however, from time to time a number of mutilated bodies have been found in desolate areas and these are the bodies of Baloch enforced disappeared persons, they bodies have been recognised by their families. They had all been reported as abducted by Pakistani security forces.

The Baloch national resistance was the result of occupation of the Baloch state of Khanate of Kalat by the British on 13 November 1839. Following their colonial policy of divide and rule, the British divided Balochistan into three parts under the ‘Goldsmith Line’ agreement in 1871 and Durand Line agreement of 1893. Western Balochistan was handed over to the Qajar Dynasty of Persia, the modern day Iran, Eastern Balochistan was controlled directly by the White Hall and a large segment of the Northern region of Balochistan was given to Afghanistan.

Iranian Occupied Balochistan: The history of abduction, imprisonment, displacement and enforced disappearances in western Balochistan goes back a long way. During Qajar and Pehlavi periods in brutal military campaigns beginning from 1920s many hundreds and thousands of the Baloch people faced the inhuman brutalities. Thousands were killed, many were forced to leave their homeland and many had gone missing. Within two years of its existence the Islamic regime of Ayatollahs has managed to wipe out almost all politically and intellectually conscious section of Baloch society. Many were imprisoned, tortured, executed or are still missing. Hundreds of these people were forced to leave their homeland and seek sanctuary in neighbouring and in some Western countries.

Just to name a few among the long list of the victims we have: Dr. Rahmat Hosainbor (survived assassination attempt 1980), Amin Noraee, a sixteen year student, was killed during the attack of the Islamic revolutionary guards at Sarawan students’ peaceful demonstration (1980), Rahim Zard-kohi killed in a clash with Islamic guards (1980), Ali Reza Rahmani (Arshad), one of very few Baloch educated engineers, was executed (1981) Mohammed Abrahim Ashkan another engineer who was the head of Pishin water reservoir construction was executed in Chabahar (1981), Cheragh Mohamadi, a high school teacher was executed (1981), Abdul Rahim Raieesi, a student of Balochistan University executed (1981) Mohamed Gull Rigi, another student of Balochistan University was killed in Zahidan prison (1981). The teenager political activist, Khosro Mobarki, was executed (1981), Abdul Samad Hosainzahi, a teacher executed in Zhidan (1981), Shafi Mohammad Zeluldini executed (1981), and Akhardad Sopahi and Dr Sdigh Didawar were killed in their homes by the Islamic guards (1981).

The simple comparative statistical data of state violence in Western Balochistan can clearly illustrate the scale of Islamic regime’s brutality against Baloch people. During the period of 2004/2009 the Islamic regime of Iran has executed about 1481 persons, out of the total population of 75 million, according to Amnesty International annual reports on Death Sentences and Executions. In the same period the number of Baloch people being killed by the Islamic regime forces is about 800 persons out of a population of about three million people (Balochistan Human Rights Activists Association). That figure indicates that about 55% of people being killed by Islamic regime of Iran during this period have been from Baloch community. In view of that, as a proportion to their population, the Baloch in Western occupied Balochistan had the highest concentration of death penalties in the world during this period.

The Islamic regime of Iran even does not tolerate Baloch social activists who try to work under their own sanctioned laws. Mr Yaghub Mehrnehad, a young Baloch journalist whose activities were within regime’s legal framework, was the first Web blogger journalist in the world to be executed in August 2008 by Islamic regime of Iran.

Pakistan Occupied Balochistan: Eastern Balochistan in 1947 declared its independence two days before the formal withdrawal of the British and the partition of Indian subcontinent. In August 1947 the first democratic general elections were held in Balochistan. However, eight months later on 27 March 1948 the newly created religious state of Pakistan invaded and occupied the Baloch state. Illegal occupation of Balochistan by the artificial state of Pakistan has been the most devastating period in the entire history of the Baloch and Balochistan. Pakistani state has carried out five major military operations in Balochistan in 1948, 1958, 1962, 1973-77.

The ongoing military assault began in 2000 and is being carried out with all its atrocities and human rights violations. Thousands of the Baloch from Marri and Bugti tribes were forced to leave their homes. Majority of them are still internally displaced and some of them took refuge in various countries. During this ferocious military operation, thousands of the Baloch intellectuals, political workers, students and Baloch leaders were imprisoned, tortured and killed. Even, Pakistani interior minister Aftab Sherpao, in December 2005 had acknowledged the arrest and imprisonment of at least 4000 Baloch political and social activists up to that point. Majority of these people are still missing.

There has been a steady rise in the magnitude of the abduction of the Baloch by Pakistani secret agencies for the last many months. The miseries of the abducted persons known popularly as forced-disappeared have been highlighted by various international humanitarian organizations. The Asian Human Rights Commission, in their report on 5 March 2010, has confirmed this number. In their statement they also included among the victims, 168 children and 148 women. Baloch sources’ estimate of the number of extra judicial abductions and missing Baloch people by Pakistani secret agencies is about 8000 persons.

From the year 2006 Pakistani state security agencies has also launched a systematic campaign of target killing of the Baloch political leaders, Baloch intellectuals and students. In August 2006 the Pakistani army targeted and killed the 80 years old prominent Baloch political leader Nawab Akbar Bugti. He was killed along with unspecified number of his companions by aerial bombardment and according to some sources by chemical weapons.

Three other prominent Baloch political leaders; Baloch National Movement President Ghulam Mohammed Baloch, his deputy Lala Munir Baloch, and Baloch Republican Party Secretary General Sher Mohammed Baloch were abducted by Pakistani agencies from their lawyer’s office on 3 April 2009. Their mutilated bodies were found on the outskirts of Turbat on 8 April 2009. In the same way Pakistani secret agencies abducted, the joint secretary of Baloch National Movement Rasool Bux Mengal, on 23 August 2009. His body was found hanging from a tree on 30 August 2009 in Bela of Lasbela district. On his body his torturers curved; ‘Long Live Pakistan’. Jan Muhammad Dashti, a well known Baloch intellectual, although badly injured, survived the assassination attempt on 23 February 2009. Habib Jalib, the General Secretary of the Balochistan National Party and another prominent leader of the party Haji Liaguat Ali Mengal were assassinated by the death squads of the Pakistani army in July 2010.

From August 2010 the Pakistani intelligence agencies have killed between 40 to 50 Baloch political and social activists and then dumped their bodies on open fields. Among these victims were three lawyers of the Balochistan High Court. Mr Munir Mirwani, Mr Zaman Khan Marri and renowned Baloch Lawyer, columnist and poet, Mr Ali Sher Kurd were abducted during August and September. Munir Mirwani is still missing while the mutilated bodies of other two lawyers were found after some days of their abductions.

The role of Pakistani army in the killings and abduction of 40 Baloch activists has been highlighted by the Amnesty International in its report on 25 October 2010 on Balochistan. From the of publication of this report the Pakistani state and its security agencies have accelerated the enforcement of their policy of enforced disappearances, abduction, arbitrary arrests, torture, killing and dump & kill operations in Balochistan with an alarming pace.

Sami Baloch aged 20 years, a student of Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology and a member Baloch Student Organisation (BSO-Azad) was abducted by Pakistani agencies on 1 October 2010 from Khuzdar. His bullet-riddled body was recovered from Hanari Nullah of Ferozabad on 17 November 2010 in Khuzdar town.

Bashir Ahmad Baloch, a member of BSO-Azad, was abducted during the last week of August 2010 from Mastung district and his bullet riddled body bearing torture marks was found on 17 November 2010 in Mastung town. Asmatullah Baloch, a member of BSO-Azad from Mastung was abducted by personnel of Pakistani paramilitary forces on 22 September and his body was discovered 17 November 2010. Nasrullah Baloch was abducted from Kalat in September 2010 and his body was recovered from Kapotho area of Kalat on the second day of EID festival.

Lala Hammed Baloch was a member of Gwadar Press club and an active member of Baloch National Movement. He was abducted on 23 October 2010 and his body was discovered on 18 November 2010 in Kech Kaur near Hiruk area of Turbat. Pakistani agencies have left a message in his pocket that reads: ‘Eid gift for the Baloch Nation’. The date Lala Hammed body was found was on the second day after one of Islamic Eids (a celebration day). On the same day the body of Hamid Ismail Baloch was found in the same area.

Asmatullah Sarparah Baloch, a member of BSO-Azad and a student of Balochistan University was abducted by Pakistani security services on 22 September 2010 and his mutilated body was recovered on 17 November 2010. Basheer Ahmad Lehri Baloch, a tailor and member of BSO-Azad, was abducted from Mastung Bazaar on 23 August 2010. His body was recovered on 17 November 2010. Zahoor Baloch was also abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies from Maustung Bazaar on 23 August 2010 and his body was found in Mastung on 21 October 2010.

Asim Karim Baloch was a student of Mulatan Polytechnic College and a member of BSO-Azad. The teenager Asim Karim before being abducted by Pakistani security forces addressed a press conference against the abduction of his brother Tariq Karim Baloch who had been abducted on 26 October 2010. His body was found in Khanozia area on 1 November 2010.

On December 1st 2010, the Pakistani forces assaulted the house of a Baloch notable, Mir Ayub Gichki. They demolished the house by excessive bombardment and killed two of his sons and three other Baloch youth in the broad day light and in front of area notables. The crime of these young people was only one and that was they were very active in the Baloch resistance struggle.

All the above mentioned victims and thousands of other who have been killed by occupying Pakistani and Iranian forces were resisting the illegal occupation of their motherland. They are regarded as heroes of National liberation struggle among Baloch masses. Their burial took place with National pride and honor.

The bodies of all victims, without exception, bear signs of extreme torture and they all have been killed and dumped in open air in the same way in different parts of Balochistan. They all bear the hallmark of professional torturers. The policy of killing and dumping is premeditated, organised and systematic. The victims of this policy are selected from the most politically active and socially conscious section of the Baloch society.

The deliberate silence of International Community: The Baloch are cherishing the noble goal of a liberated united Balochistan. They are struggling against the religious fundamentalist states to liberate their land where they can live with their own traditions and values of a secular, democratic society. In resisting the subjugating maneuvers of the most atrocious colonial states of 21st century they are bearing the full force of the brutalities.

The treatment of the Baloch under occupation of the Islamic fundamentalist regimes of Pakistan and Iran is not much different from other nations who had experienced similar forceful subjugation; however, the irony is that the international community is keeping a blind eye on the systemic annihilation of a whole nation. It is high time that the international community to raise effective voices against these inhuman atrocities being perpetuated. It is high time for the international community to assist the Baloch in their just struggle for basic human rights which include the right to live with honor, dignity and independence.

Mehran Baluch slams Human Rights Watch for misleading reports

Mehran Baluch the Baloch representative to the United Nations Human Rights Council has expressed his deep concerns over the Human Rights Watch’s recent report.

In a statement Mr Baluch said, “that Human Rights Watch is considered as an impartial organization in the whole world including Baluchistan, but after the publication of the report on Monday has raised doubts in the minds of the Baloch people that some NGO’s and organizations are helping the Baloch enemies directly or indirectly and damaging the Baloch cause of freedom by publishing misleading reports.”

“The report of an international independent Human Rights organization looks more like a Pakistani Establishments report, to malign the Baloch struggle of freedom Pakistani establishment issues such kinds of reports on Pakistani print and electronic media on a regular basis,” said Mehran Baluch

“I fear that by mistake the organization has issued the report that was made by Rehman Malik’s office in Islamabad. Because Baloch nation and the world have heard similar statements many time from Rahman Malik and the stooges of Pakistani establishment,” he added.

In the report the organization has mentioned the victimized family members of Punjabis and interviewed them in various cities of Punjab but unfortunately neither they could meet the family members of the Baloch missing persons who are demonstrating in the streets of Balochistan and holding huger strike camps in Karachi and different press clubs of Balochistan for recovery of their loved ones who were wished away by Pakistani secret agencies nor did they acknowledge those Baloch women children and elderly whom were gifted more than 50 bullet-riddled bodies of their family members in just last few months by ISI and MI seeking for justice from the civilized world and Human Rights Organizations.

“We expect from the high officials of Human Rights Watch to look into this mater to confirm that there is no foul play in the publishing of this bias report by the Islamabad bureau of Human Rights Watch,” said Mehran.

Spies, not teachers, being killed by Baloch resistance: educationist

Baloch educationists have said they are shocked to see a one-sided report issued on behalf of the
Human Rights Watch (http://www.hrw.org/en/reports/2010/12/13/their-future-stake) on the killing of alien trwchers in Balochistan.

Some of the 22 teachers were killed by Lashkar-i Jhangavi and Sunni radicals, who have nothing to do with the Baloch freedom fighters, but a first read of the report shows the HRW nonetheless try to pin the blame on Baloch freedom fighters or sarmachars.

"It appears that the report was prepared with the help of Pakistan government functionaries and intelligence agencies who have given their version of the situation," one highly respected baloch educationist said on a condition of not being named. "As far as the killing of teachers and bombing of schools is concerned there are no reports that Baloch insurgent groups have ever taken any such actions, except for rare cases where they have targeted government informers and those who have been working as spies within the education institutions against the interest of the people of Balochistan," he adds

The educationist said most of those spies killed were putting the lives of Baloch students and political workers at risk with their activities as secret agents of government agencies and murderous occupation forces.

The situation pertaining to Punjabi teachers in Balochistan is not simple.

Presently there are about 100 out of about 500 teachers in the University of Balochistan who come from Punjab and are serving at different levels at the University. These teachers were directly recruited at the university not because Balochistan lacks qualified candidates, but because doors to government jobs, and especially university and college teaching jobs, are closed for the Baloch. local teachers in Balochistan say.

Baloch candidates, some of them gold medal-winners and others who obtained first class first roam around in Balochistan with their degrees from Pakistan's prestigious universities such as Quaid-e Azam University in Islamabad in their hands but barely succeed in getting a job as lecturer at the University of Balochistan.

In contrast, candidates from Punjab and Khyber Pashtunkhwa are immediately inducted just because Baloch have no say how affairs are run in the University of Balochistan.

At this time out of 500, only 60 ethnic Baloch are employed as teachers at the Balochistan University. Of them, 30 teach at the departments of Balochi and Brahui languages, where a non-Baloch can not get a job anyways.

Insider sources say a Punjabi-Pashtun mafia have been running the affairs of the Balochistan University as equal partners for many years now, but in recent years the Pashtun lobby has started harassing and threatening the Punjabi lobby to force them to run away so that they can occupy their positions.

"Baloch are not in a position to compete with the Pashtuns simply because Pashtuns are holding all key positions, it is in the interest of the Pashtuns that Punjabi teachers flee Balochistan and leave the positions vacant for them,” said the senior Baloch educationist.

Another reason why Punjabi teachers leaving Balochistan is purely economics.

For example, at present 80 Punjabi and Urdu-speaking teachers have applied for deputation outside Balochistan on an excuse that their lives are under threat in Balochistan. All of these 80 teachers have got their PhDs with scholarships from the University of Balochistan and UoB has spent an average 100,000 dollars on each one of them -- full scholarship, return ticket once a year, plus the full salary back home.

"Most of them are dull teachers who were appointed on the basis of their ethnicity and not because of their qualifications. They are often sent for short term diploma courses to foreign countries. Their diplomas are turned to Masters, Masters to Master of Philosophy and then MPhils to PhDs. As such they spend about seven to 10 years in foreign places at the expense of the University of Balochistan, while Baloch teachers are deprived of any such benefits," the Baloch educationis said.

After getting their degrees and joining the University of Balochistan, they begin getting offers from private universities in Punjab, Sind and Khyber Pashtunkhwa, with perks and high salaries. As the University of Balochistan has spent tens of thousands on each of these professors it doesn’t want to let them go.

“Using security risk as an excuse, the university authorities allow them to go on deputation so that their pension is secured from the University of Balochistan and they join private universities in other provinces of Pakistan and enjoy good salaries, and keep their job at the University of Balochistan at the same time for getting pension after retirement,” the Baloch educationist said.

Observers say the irony of the situation is that while university authorities are allowing senior professors force to leave the province for security reasons, new lecturers from Punjab are joining the university and occupying positions on daily basis in spite of the alleged security threats.

"Now, one can ask if there is a security risk for the Punjabis in Balochistan then it is the same for young Punjabis, but it seems that young Punjabis have no security problems," said the Baloch educationist. "They get positions at the university, then get scholarships in one or two years. Once they get their higher degrees and qualification, they repeat the old drama that their life is not safe and they ask for being sent on deputation to other parts of the country."

Most non-Baloch senior professors have availed four or five post-doctoratal grants in Europe and America as once they get their PhDs then a series of post-doctoral grants are given to them every year in the West. As there is no dissertation or assignment writing involved in post-doctoral leaves, they enjoy both huge grants abroad and confirmed salaries back home.

"All this is prohibited to the Baloch who have no rights of any kind at the University of Balochistan,” said the Baloch educationist.

During the recent past the Government of Pakistan announced a project of calling back qualified
teachers of Pakistani origin who are teaching in Europe and America.

Three highly qualified Baloch Phds responded to the program: Dr. Inayat Baloch, Dr. Badal Khan Baloch and Dr. Taj Mohammed Breseeg applied at University of Balochistan, but none of the three were taken under this program or as professors.

Of the three, Dr Badal Khan was appointed as Pro-Vice Chancellor but refused a position as professor on different excuses forcing him to return to Italy and join the Italian university in Naples where he is an assistant professor.

Observers point out that is adequately qualified for professorship in Europe and has also taught at one of the USA's largest Ohio State University in Columbus as a visiting professor, how come Badal Khan couldn’t qualify for professorship at the University of Balochistan.

Dr. Taj Breseeg was given only a six-month contract and he knocked at the doors of all political parties and concerned bodies to get his contract extended for six more months without success, while Dr. Inayat Baloch was bluntly refused even a contract at the University of balochistan.

Non-Baloch teachers use similar tactics in the Baloch hinterland. They first get themselves appointed at some college in interior Balochistan, join the college and just after a few days of their joining return back to Quetta and refuse to go to there on an excuse they won't be safe there.

“Now the situation is there are 30 professors of physics at Government Science College in Quetta while none for any government college in interior of Balochistan,” said the Baloch educationist.

Baloch students have no teachers in most of the colleges in the countryside, while non-Baloch teachers enjoy a relaxed time in Quetta while receiving their salaries from colleges in the interior.

A big tragedy for Balochistan is that the present minister of education, Tahir Khan, is a Punjabi petty merchant and has nothing to do with teaching or education.

"His elder brother, Shafique Ahmed Khan, also a petty merchant and Pakistan Peoples Party member, was killed and he inherited his seat in the assembly and his ministry. So he became the minister by chance and never bothers visiting interior of Balochistan. The real sufferers are Baloch," the Quetta educationist said.

Balochistan has one general and four technical universities but, ironically, all have Pashtun Vice Chancellors. Only the Women University has a Baloch educationist posted as vice chancellor.

Some academics are speaking out openly against the injustices.

“The common practice in Quetta is that all higher educational institutions are headed by Pashtuns and their sub-ordinates are Baloch. Mind you they are sub-ordinates and not second-in-command,," Dr Badal Khan Baloch who worked at the University of Balochistan for two years as the pro-vice chancellor, told this scribe from Naples, Italy.

"The Baloch have no voice, no share, no rights and no place at the university of Balochistan and in other higher educational institutions," confirms Dr Badal Khan. He says he is treated far better in Europe and America than in Balochistan that is why he returned to Italy.

Shutter down in Gwadar, Ormara against arrest of Baloch student, protest in Karachi

Occupied Balochistan: A Complete shutter down strike was observed in Gwadar, Ormara and adjoining townships on Sunday for the second consecutive day paralyzing life, business and trade activities, protesting against the hostage-taking of comrade Qayyum Baloch, senior member of Baloch Student Organization (BSO-Azad).

Students, including women in large number, took out a rally from Baloch Mohallah and marched through different parts of Gwadar city. The protesting students burnt tyres and put up barricades on several roads suspending flow of traffic for the day. The angry protestors also pelted commercial banks and official buildings with stones expressing their anger against the government and its functionaries for extra judicial arrest and murder in official custody. They chanted slogans against the security forces and secret agencies and accused them of whisking away innocent Baloch people.

A protest demonstration was held in front the Gwadar Press Club where speakers severely criticized the security forces saying that there is no law governing the unruly people in Government service. Information Secretary of BSO-Azad and relatives of Abdul Qayyum alleged that personnel in civil dress accompanied by Frontier Corps soldiers carried out raid in a house in Gwadar and whisked him away.

Dad Bakhsh, brother of Abdul Qayyum, lodged an FIR number 152/0/0 in Gwadar Police Station against the FC personnel accusing them of whisking away Abdul Qayyum.

Sources said that the angry people had besieged the residence of Minister for Fisheries Hammal Kalmati who then pressurized the concerned police officer to lodge the case. The students announced that strike will be continued today on Monday. It may be mentioned that Frontier Corps had categorically denied the allegations of carrying out raids and whisking away the people and termed it baseless and merely propaganda.

Meanwhile members of BNF held a protest rally at in Nuski against the abduction of Comerade Qayum Baloch and others. They chanted slogans against Pakistani security forces and demanded that the ongoing military operation in Balochistan must end immediately.

Karachi Protest: members and supporters of BSO-azaad also took to streets in Karachi against the abduction of Qayum Baloch. A large number of Baloch women and children participated in the protest rally and chanted slogans against the abductions and recovery of mutilated bodies of Baloch youth.

Report: The 6th International Conference against Disappearance 9 – 12 December, London

London: The three-day International Conference against disappearances ended successfully here on Sunday after a long March from Marble Arch to 10 Downing Street the official residence of British Prime minster. The conference was organised by ICAD and supported by International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons and other Organisations. The conference brought together the families and relatives of missing persons from different countries around the world. Delegates from 27 countries including Balochistan participated in the conference and shared their experiences and information about their respected countries – and the occupying states violence against National Liberation Movements.

Emotional moments were seen as the relatives of disappeared persons explained their ordeal and heartbreaking stories. It has been observed that almost all the brutal states and the occupying forces use the same methods of abduction, torture and violence against political and revolutionary activists. The conference emphasised the need of creating an International data base for the enforced disappeared persons around the world which should be easily accessible to the heads of National Organisation that are working against disappearances in their countries. The conference also recommended the creation of an International Solidarity network that should work on emergency bases and report any disappearances that occurs in any country around the world.

Several Human Rights Organisations and activists send their messages of support and congratulations to the ICAD, families of missing persons and other participants of the Conference. A message from Palestinian liberation fighter Leila Khaled was read out by Faiz Baluch which expressed solidarity with families of abducted persons around the world and urged those who enjoy liberty to continue their struggle for peace, justice and freedom. Her message further read that she was willing to attend the conference but the British authorities have refused her visa three times.

On the third day of the conference several resolutions were passed urging occupying states to release all political activists. The conference also recognised the National liberations struggles as the legitimised right of nations under occupation. (The complete resolution will be posted Shorty).

Brother of abducted Faiz Mohammad Marri posed the following questions:

“Before I end speech I would like to pose few questions to those who enjoy liberty: how do you deal with a situation when one of your family members disappears for a year! Maybe for five or ten years?

When the pro-claimed human rights organizations like UN close their eyes and ears to hear or notice your plea? How do you keep your sanity when your brother, father, son or daughter has vanished without a trace for a very long time and what do you do? How do you deal with the excruciating pain and the feeling of not knowing what happened your dearest ones? How do the mothers and the “widowed” women deal with the fading of their fiancés, husbands, sons and relatives for a long period of time by notorious forces? Is there any medicine or mechanism to deal with such an unbearable tragedy?

For those of you who luckily do not have anyone from your family member taken away, just do the following to at least feel a fraction of the pain that the families of the disappeared Baloch and other people fell; stop calling or talking to your loved ones for a year, two years, or five years! You will at least understand a little bit of what I am talking about”.

On the third day of conference 12-12-2010 a protest March was organised from Marble Arch to ten Downing Street, British PM official residence. The protest was carrying placards, banners and pictures of abducted person. They also chanted slogans and distributed leaflets for the release of political prisoners and the arrest of perpetrators of such crimes. The protesters also urged the western democracies to stop giving safe sanctuaries to dictators who after committing heinous crimes flee to Western capitals and live with impunity without any fear of being arrested or prosecuted.

Baloch youth abducted by Pakistan state after human rights day

Occupied Balochistan: Pakistan's security forces and secret services have abducted a Baloch youth in the port city of Gwadar, just a day after the international human rights day.

The victim has been identified as Abdul Qayyum Baloch, son of Nazar Mohammed Baloch. He has been abducted from his residence, Radio Gwank from Sweden reported.

Abdul Qayyum Baloch is a student and is a member of the pro-independence Baloch Students Organization Azad.

Enraged Baloch mobs laid a seige of the residence of Ghafoor Kalmati, minister for fihseries in the state government of Balochistan, and pelted it with stones, according to a phone call received here in USA.

Baloch resistance parties, struggling for an independent Balochistan, has recently changed its tactics and has begun targeting high-ranking Baloch officials in response to the enforced disapperances and extra judicial killings in Balochistan.

Journalist protested against colleague's abduction, Sarmachaars saviour of Baloch Nation: BSO

Occupied Balochistan: A number Journalist protested in front of Pasni Press Club against the abduction of a member of Gawadar Press Club, Lala Hameed Baloch, and other Baloch activists. They were holding the play cards inscribed with slogans against the illegal arrests of Baloch activists and demands for the immediate recovery of all Baloch enforced-disappeared persons.

According to details Journalists in the town of Pasni in Balochstan protested against the abduction of Lala Hameed Baloch, Naseer Kamalaan(member of BNM and well-known poet), Rheman Arif Baloch and other Baloch activists in front of Pasni press club. While addressing the crowd the organisers of the protest said that Pakistani forces were abducting the journalist for the only crime of being Baloch and such action on the part of the state tantamount to the suffocation of free media and stopping the journalists to do their duty independently.

They further said that despite their warning and protest the government has not yet released Baloch Journalist Lala Hamid Baloch, Balochi language poet Naseer Kamalan Baloch and other Baloch activists. They appealed to the International Human Right Organizations to take immediate notice of abductions of Baloch activists.

Mean while Baloch Student Organization’s members protested in the front of Pansi press club against the abductions and kill and dump tactics of Pakistani forces. The Protester was holding play cards and banners. They also appealed the United Nations to take the notice of the genocide Baloch Nation and disappearances of Baloch peoples.

The BSO leaders while addressing the demonstration said that the Baloch were struggling for their national identity and freedom. They said that the current Baloch struggle for liberation was more organized and strong than of those in the past. The Baloch Student Oranisation said Baloch struggle for national liberation was gaining momentum on international level. They further said that the Baloch freedom fighters were struggling for an Independent Balochistan and it is every Baloch’s duty to support them because Sarmachars are the only saviour of Baloch Nation. In the end they said that Sarmaachars are fighting against Pakistani force occupation and for Baloch national honour and liberation.

Baloch nation expressed grave anger against Military operation in Mashky

Occupied Balochistan: Baloch masses on the call of BSO-azaad have come out to streets to express their hatred toward Pakistan and its military for the loot, plunder and bombardment on the civilian population in Mashky Balochistan.

Shops, educational department and government offices were shut in several part of Balochistan including Turbat, Gwader, Pasi, Thump, Mand, Buleda, Zamran, Panjgor, Ormara, Hoshaab, Shehrak, Awara, Mashky, Jhao region of Makuran divisions whereas Khuzdar, Kalat, Suraab, Zehri, Baghbaana, Naal of Jhalawan regional area were also closed due to the general strike in Balochistan. BSO-azaad members also blocked the main roads linking Balochistan to Karachi from Gwader, Quetta and Kalat.

Several protest rallies and protest demonstration were also organised against unprovoked attack and burning down of Baloch houses in Mashky and surrounding areas. Addressing the crowds the leaders of Baloch students said that Baloch do not fear the military no matter how cruel they may be; the struggle for liberation will continue and will gain further momentum because such inhuman acts of the military. They also vowed to continue their protests in different areas of Balochistan according to their already announced schedules. They appealed to the Baloch Nation to stand up to the Pakistani atrocities and express their hatred against the military by joining the mass public protests and rallies.

The protests were calm and peaceful in most of the areas. However, there has been reports of breaking windows of shops and government offices by unknown persons. In Khuzdar angry mobs at Mir Chakar Khan Road set ablaze a vehicle of Courier Company TCS due to which several parcels, letters and other important correspondent burnt to ashes.

Meanwhile the office of NP (National Party) ‘which considered a pro-parliament and pro-Pakistan party in Balochistan’ has also been set on fire in Khuzdar. The office of the NP was situated in Faisal Market in Khuzdar. According to reports the office was heavily damaged. Some paper-work of the party, the four star flag and a portrait of Party head Mir Ghaus Bux Bezinjo also burnt due to the fire at the office.

The protesters also strongly criticised the Pakistani print and electronic media for shutting their eyes and ears to the constant military operation in different areas of Balochistan.

On the other hand Daily times.com.pk reported that a complete shutter down strike was observed in almost all towns and cities of Balochistan on Friday to condemn the killing of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) senior member Nooruddin Mengal. He was shot dead by unidentified men in Kalat district on Wednesday near his residence. The strike was called by BNP-M to protest the killing.

Baloch Nation should not fear defeated military of Pakistan, Sarmachaars stand with them: BLF

Occupied Balochistan: A spokesperson of Baloch Liberation Front Bashaam Baloch has said that Baloch freedom fighters have fired rockets on an FC camp in Besima on Thursday night whereas on Wednesday in two incidents six Pakistan FC men were killed and a hand grenade was hurled at the house of a settler in Kharan.

He further said that in the first incident at Taleemi Chowk (Educational Rounabout) in Turbat Baloch fighters attacked an FC vehicle with rockets. Six FC personnel died instantly as a result of the attack and their vehicle has been completely destroyed. In the second incident a hand grenade was hurled at the house of a settler killing one man. BLF claimed responsibility for all the attacks on Pakistani security forces.

Mr Bashaam Baloch was speaking to NNI here on Friday. Giving the details of the recent military incursion in Mashky the BLF spokesperson said that around 50 houses of innocent people including the huts of nomads were burnt down during the military offensives. According to Mr. Baloch the operation was carried out to nab the fighters of BLF but they failed because Baloch Liberation Front sarmachaars have moved to different locations successfully.

He warned ‘what he described the defeated military’ of Pakistan not to violate the international war laws. “We want to make it clear to the International community that the pillage of Baloch houses, stealing [gold and valuables], and the genocide of Baloch civilian by Pakistani military are in violation of the International war laws. Strong notice should be taken against such behaviour [of the Pakistan military.]”

Pakistani troops should accept their defeat before Baloch freedom fighters and immediately withdraw its occupying forces from Balochistan. He also appealed to the Baloch Nation that they should not fear the defeated Pakistani forces; Baloch Sarmachaars (freedom fighters) will stay with them at every step.

Pakistani atrocities continue in Mashkay Balochistan,public properties set ablaze by occupying forces

Occupied Balochistan,MASHKAY:Pakistan Army has begun an offensive in the area of Mashkay, Pakistani Occupied Balochistan. This offensive is being carried out with the help of gunship helicopters and the area is completely blocked where is the local residents are not being allowed to enter or leave the area. According to the reports received through the people who managed to leave the area, the local population are being harassed and looted by Pakistan army.

Several people were kidnapped by the army and were taken to undisclosed locations but due to strict restrictions imposed on the local people, only little information could be received on the names of the people who were abducted. Local sources also have mentioned that properties of the local people , who have resisted against the lootings or kidnappings, were set on fire.

According to the reports received Bashir Ahmed Baloch, a tailor by profession and his two sons of age 9 and 13 were abducted from Wahejo, a small town in Mashkay. Bashir Ahmed’s shop was set ablaze and his family members were severely beaten at the time when three of them were being kidnapped. It is said that the personal’s repeatedly said that he was the only tailor in the area therefore he must be the one who stitches the flags of Independent Balochistan.

Meanwhile in Moee, the town where Baloch leader Dr. Allah Nizar was born, a school teacher named as Raza Muhammed Baloch, his relative Adam Baloch, a shepherd named Abdul Latif Baloch and a brother of Dr. Alla Nizar, Ibrahim Baloch were kidnapped and were taken to undisclosed location. Dr. Alla Nizar’s house was raided as well, and his family and neighbors were humiliated and their belongings were taken away. On the other hand in Kandali, a place near Mashkay Cantonment, Dr. Haneef Baloch’s house was raided by Pakistan army, and his house, along with the houses of six of his neighbors, were burnt to ashes. By burning the houses of the people who are already living a miserable life and live below the poverty line in their mineral rich motherland, the army officer present at the scene celebrated victory and warned other residents of the area that they would all be slaughtered and that they were all working for India and America (the infidels as Pakistan Army calls them).

In the main market of Mashkay which was observing a shutter down strike against the army offensive, 18 shops were set on fire and people were forcefully asked to keep their shops open if they wished to save their properties from burning. Houses of Fida Baloch, Zahor Baloch, Haroon Baloch, Mustafa Baloch and Gul Hassan Baloch were also burnt for the sole reason of being members B.S.O. (Azaad). Their family members were forcefully taken out of the houses and children and women were said to be humiliated and beaten on the roads of Mashkay

Reports of Military operation in Balochistan, fears of civilian casualties due to aerial bombardment

Several innocent Baloch have been arrested, 40 tanks and 4 Helicopters are reportedly being used in the operation

Occupied Balochistan: Pakistan military, FC and Police are carrying out a join military operation in the town of Mashky in Balochistan. The forces are reportedly using Gunship Helicopters for the aerial bombardment in mountainous regions on civilian populations. Local sources also claim that there houses and shops have been deliberately set on fire by the Pakistan military. According to reports over 40 military tanks, hundreds of FC personnel and at least 4 Helicopter are involved in the current operation. In addition hundreds of Pakistan military troops and ambulances have also reached the town late Wednesday night.

Local sources claim there have been civilian causalities but nobody can say with certainty how many people have been killed or injured because of the complete media blackout in the region. The Town of Mashky and adjourning areas are in a complete siege by the military. Presently the police, the FC and the military are conducting a house-to-house search, with the help of some masked men, [presumably their local hired agents] in the town and several people have been arrested so far. Locals complain that their valuables including cash, cycles, cars and motorcycles are forcefully being taken away by the Pakistani security personnel.

The town might face food and medical scarcity due to the siege and continued military operation. Due to the curfew like situation the residents of Mashky town are not being allowed to leave their houses and no medical aid has been permitted to enter the town from anywhere else in Balochistan.

Sources also reported that the military have cut off all the electricity and phone lines before they started the operation. People might face medical, food and water shortage if the operation continued. However,The current operation in Mashky is not something unexpected or new to the people of Balochistan. It is a continuing process of the slow but steady motion Genocide of Baloch nation.

Meanwhile BNF, a combination of pro-independent Baloch Nationalist Parties, and BSO-azaad have strongly condemned the military operation in Mashky. They called for a complete shutter-down protest in several towns of Balochistan on Thursday (Today) and vowed to continue protests until the operation is halted.

The leader of BRC (Baloch Rights Council) Mr. Abdul Wahab Baloch has said that Mir Noor-ul-Deen Mengal was murdered to divert the attention from the military operation in Mashky. Looking a Pakistani electronic & print media reports his suspicions seem to be true. None of the Pakistan newspapers and televisions has reported about the military operation but all have printed the report of Mr Mengal’s murder.

Turkish Relief aid arrived in Baluchistan, but no sign of Pakistani help for Baluch

News report confirmed arrival of 25 truck load of relief goods for the East Baluchistani victims of flooding. A deliberated diversion of the Indus River flow by Pakistan agriculture land lords to save their lands had caused server flooding in eastern parts of Baluchistan in August 2010.

The flooding submerged many populated towns of in area and killed numerous people and livestock. Thousands of Baluch were displaced who were living without food and shelters’ ever since.

The arrival of Turkish aid brings a momentary sigh of relief for some, but Baluchistani political activists and social groups are continuously complaining about lack of Pakistani government attention towards the victims of flood.

Even with the arrival of foreign aid, many local are sceptic if it reaches those in dire need. The handing over of the goods to Pakistani army instead of local authorities, give Pakistanis every opportunity to divert valuable part of it to their family and friends in Punjab.

Kidnapping in Iran shows Jundallah''BPRM'' Remains Active

Occupied Balochistan:According to some media reports the Jundallah group has kidnapped a worker from the Iranian nuclear facility. The group has threatened that if its members are not released then it will tell the secrets of the kidnapped worker.

The announcement of the kidnapping of the worker, Hossein Shirani who lives in the Iranian province of Isfahan was made by the group on their website. Jundallah has demanded Tehran release almost 200 of its members, the Sunni Baloch rebels.

The deadline for this release is one week. The group’s website said further that Mr. Hossein was being held in the mountains of the southeastern Sistan Baluchistan province. Sistan Baluchistan province has a Sunni majority and it borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, both are Sunni states.
Though the Iranian authorities have confirmed the kidnapping of Mr. Hossein they have apparently distorted the details. A spokesman of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization has said that Mr. Hossein was actually a welder at the nuclear facility and then later became a driver for one of the companies who were contracted by the atomic energy organization.

The judiciary chief of Isfahan has also confirmed the kidnapping but has said that it was the result of a financial dispute.It is noteworthy that the kidnapping has come just one week after the Iranian authorities have said that the western powers were conspiring against its nuclear program. They also have claimed they arrested various spies.
Jundallah is a Sunni-Baloch group which has been struggling for the rights of the minority Balochs of Sunni origin in the Shiite majority Iran. A sense of deprivation prevails among these Sunnis as the province of Balochistan-Sistan is the most backward province of Iran.

The group has launched an armed struggle against Tehran with the intent of forming an independent Balochistan state comprised of the Iranian Balochistan-Sistan and the Pakistani province of Balochistan.

Iran claims that Jundallah has the covert support of USA, UK, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
Iran this year arrested the leader of the group Abdul Malik Rigi by intercepting his flight from Dubai. He was later hanged in front of a large public gathering.
Tehran expected that after the hanging the resistance would crumble or not be able to maintain the same intensity, but the twin bombings in Zahedan killing many of the Revolutionary Guard proved that the group was very well alive and active.

The kidnapping has further reinforced this belief. It is of interest to observe what the Iranian government will do next to tackle the Sunni-Baloch insurgency.

Journalists should demonstrate impartial journalism: warns BLF

Occupied Balochistan:The spokesman of Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) Mr. Doda Baloch talking to NNI through satellite phone from unknown location here on Monday, denied the news published in one of the local newspapers which stated BLF criticizing Baloch National Movement (BNM) on its administrative policies. Mr. Doda advised the journalists to fulfill their responsibilities of impartial reporting and NOT to work on Baloch enemy policies.

Mr. Baloch further cleared BLF being a responsible organization and the news agencies along with the newspapers do have the contact numbers of BLF spokesmen Doda Baloch, Basham Baloch and Gwaraam Baloch.

Pointing to one of the local newspapers' editor, Mr. Baloch asked the editor-in-chief (of the particular newspaper) to take notice on the misreported news and republish the original news with an apology note on the front page of its newspaper. Mr. Baloch warned BLF could use any action in its reach to defend the Baloch national freedom struggle and Baloch national identity.

Mr. Baloch expressed unity with BNM saying "We respect BNM along all other pro-independence parties and all parties are magisterial in their administrations".

"Journalism is a very sacred field and we respect it" he said.

Baloch Liberation Front believes any irresponsible and evil intentioned journalism is subject to Baloch enmity, Mr. Baloch added. Such issues will be dealt strictly, he warned. Mr. Baloch told the news agencies hereafter could confirm any unconfirmed news relating BLF through its spokesmen Doda Baloch, Bashaam Baloch and Gwaraam Baloch via their contact numbers.

BNF protest against killing of Baloch activist in Kalat, protest for recovery of abducted Baloch in Khuzdar

Occupied Balochistan: A shutter down protest has been observed in Kalat against killing of Yasin Baloch, an active member of Voice for Missing Baloch Persons, here on Monday. The Baloch National Front (BNF) had given the call for protest.

The call for strike was supported by Baloch students, shop-owners and the general public. The schools, markets and government offices were shut due to the complete shutter-down protest in Kalat city. Baloch students also supported the protest by boycotting the classes. The Kalat high school, however, refused to close due to which some angry protesters entered the office of the Principle of the school and burnt down the portrait of Mr Jinnah (the so called pioneer of Pakistan).

According to the BNF the assassination of Yasin Baloch is the cycle of ongoing slow but steady motion genocide of Baloch nation they however vowed that such atrocities (state sponsored terrorism) cannot weaken the Baloch National Movement for their freedom; the struggle for liberation shall continue.

Addressing the protest rally BSO-azaad leaders have said that Yasin Baloch’s sacrifices will not be let go in vain. “Yasin have been physically separated from us but he will live in our hearts. Those Baloch who paid the ultimate price for the liberation of mother land their sacrifices will bear fruit. Baloch history is full of sacrifices and to gain freedom sacrifices are must”. They also urged the Baloch youth the join the caravan of freedom struggle and complete the mission of Yasin Baloch and other Baloch martyrs. Three including a Baloch poet and singer abducted

Occupied Balochistan: The mother of an ‘abducted’ Baloch singer and poet has appealed to the President, Chief Justice of Pakistan and Human Rights Organisations to to help trace her son Mr. Faqir Mohammad Shahwani Baloch.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, she said that her son was an employee of Cadet College Mastung and he was picked up by security forces personnel at the main gate of the college on Sept 23, 2010. “My son and his friend Abdul Rehman were on their way to college for work when they reached the FC check post near the main gate of Cadet College Mastung they were stopped by the FC and plain clothed officers. The plain clothed officers had come in two white and blue cars”.

She further said that The plain clothed officials, presumably personnel of Military intelligence, checked the ID cards of both men. They let Abdul Rehman go but abducted Fakeer Mohammad at gunpoint. Abdul Rehamn immediately informed the college administration about the incident but 15 days had passed but there was no word about the whereabouts of Faqir Muhammad Shahwani.

She appealed to the President, the Chief Justice and human rights organizations to help trace her son. Young Baloch singer of Brahvi and Balochi languages was abducted on 23 Sept by Pakistani security forces from Mastung city. Pakistani security forces continue to abduct not only Baloch political activists but also Baloch students, teachers, lawyers, doctors, poets and singers have become victims of enforced-disappearance in Balochistan.

Local fish trader Aslam Baloch goes missing with a sum of RS.100, 000 Cash from Pakistan Coast Guard check post in Pasni

Occupied Balochistan: Aslam Baloch a residence of Makola (Kalmat) some 80km from Pasni went missing following a firing incident on the Pakistan Coast Guard a few days back.

According to his relatives Aslam Baloch he was in Pasni town for his routine business (fish trading) when some unknown person shot injured two Pakistan Coast Gaurd personnel. The following evening while on his way back home he was stopped at Coast Guards check post some 35kilometer from Pasni in Badook area and made disappeared.

Aslam is missing from one weak and his whereabouts are still unknown. His family is very concerned about his well-being and safety. Such incidents have become a daily routine in all over Balochistan where the numbers of 'missing persons' is increasing day by day.

Moreover, Waheed Qambarani and his friend have reportedly been abducted from Quetta on 7 October, 2010. We wait for more details.

An active Member of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons shot dead

Occupied Balochistan: A Member of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons and brother of abducted Mujeeb Baloch was gunned by unidentified assailants near Roshare Kalat here on Sunday.

According to the sources Yasin Muhammad Shahi Baloch was riding a motorcycle on his way home Malghozar Kalat when some unknown masked men ridding on a motorcycle sprayed a volley of bullets on him and killing him intently. Assailants managed to escape from the scene after committing crime. Deceased was taken to the Kalat Hospital later the corpse was handed over to his relatives for burial.

Yasin Muhammad Shahi Baloch was one of the active members of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons. His brother Mujeeb Baloch senior member of BSO azad was abducted by Pakistani agencies one year ago while he was in Baluchistan University since abduction of his brother Mujeeb Baloch he was playing very active role for recovery of Baloch Missing Persons.

Athar Abbas, initially told The Times that it had to be fake, since, “No Pakistan Army soldier or officer has been involved in activity of this sort.” But two retired Pakistani senior army officers said they believed that the video was credible.
The next day, pressed by American officials, Pakistan’s military acknowledged that the execution video was genuine, but portrayed the killings as an isolated episode.
On Friday, a person from the Swat Valley, who wanted to remain anonymous for safety concerns, told The Times that the newly discovered video of the prisoners being beaten, which was uploaded to YouTube in May, seemed to have been shot in Khawazakhela, north of the town of Mingora.
This video, which also appears to have been shot on the type of low-resolution camera commonly found in phones appears to show in graphic detail the beating and interrogation of a suspected militant.
As the beatings are administered, men dressed in Pakistani military uniforms can be heard asking the prisoner, “Are you a Talib?” Mixed in with other questions is some laughter and the suggestion “Beat him so that he knows what beating is.”
The men in uniform question the prisoner in a mix of Urdu and Pashtun, but speak among themselves in Punjabi.

UK: protest against enforced-disappearances of Baloch activists by Pakistan and Iran

London: Human Rights and political activists from various groups have staged a protest demonstration in front of Amnesty International Head Quarters in United Kingdom (London) against forced-disappearances and extra judicial killing (killings in custody) of Baloch activists by Pakistan and Iran. The demonstration was held as part of International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVMBP) continuous campaign against human rights violations in Balochistan.

Members of Al-Ahwaz Democratic Popular Front, ICAD (International Committee Against Disappearances), CAMPACC (Campaign Against Criminalising Communities) and various Baloch Parties based in London joined the protest to show their solidarity with the people of Balochistan and express their hatred toward occupying states of Iran and Pakistan. The Turk activists of South Azerbaijan have also sent a letter of support for the demonstration and expressed their sympathy with the people of occupied Balochistan.

Baloch leader Hyrbyair Marri, who could not attend the protest because of his asylum interview, has also expressed his support and appreciated the Baloch and other human rights activists’ efforts for organising the demonstration despite the rain.

The protesters held pictures of Baloch political prisoners and picture of those who have been killed in custody by Pakistan Military’s death squads in custody. They handed a detailed report to Amnesty International which described the atrocities of the state of Iran and Pakistan against the people of Balochistan.

Below are given some extracts from the report titled “Few Facts about Balochistan”

Baluchistan The first unified Baluch nation state was established in the year 1666 under the authority of Khanate of Kalat. The British Empire army invaded Baluchistan on 13 November 1839 and killed Mir Mehrab Khan then the ruler of Baluchistan.

The British by drawing two arbitrary lines divided Baluchistan into three parts: The ‘Goldsmith Line’ (1871) divided Baluchistan into Eastern and Western Baluchistan. This agreement was between the Iranian rulers, then the Qajar King Nasir-al Din Shah (1848-1896) and the British. This is the line that presently separates Iranian occupied Baluchistan from Pakistani occupied Baluchistan. Another artificial line, ‘Durand Line’ was drawn in 1893. This line transferred a large segment of the Northern region of Baluchistan to Afghanistan.

By the beginning of the First World War the Persian lost control over Western Baluchistan. In 1916 Bahram Khan Baluch was recognised by the British as the effective ruler of western Baluchistan. Bahram Khan was succeeded by his nephew Mir Dost Mohamed Khan in 1921. His time in power coincided with the reign of Reza Khan as the ruler of Persia. Reza Khan invaded Western Baluchistan and illegally annexed it to Persia in 1928.

Eastern Baluchistan regained its full independence on 11 August 1947 from the British. The news of Baluchistan regaining its independence was reported in the New York Times on 12 August 1947. In August 1947 the first democratic general elections were held in Baluchistan. Members of the Baluchistan National Party, a secular democratic party, won 39 seats out of 52 seats in Baluchistan legislative assembly of House of Commons.

On 27 March 1948 Pakistan army invaded Eastern Baluchistan. Since then Pakistan has carried out five major military operations in Baluchistan to crush the Baluch liberation movement. These military operations were in 1948, 1958, 1962, 1973-77 and the year 2000 which is still continuing.

The last two Pakistan’s military operations have been the bloodiest wars in the history of Baluchistan. During 1973-77 military campaign, over 90,000 Pakistani troops supported by 30 US Cobra attack helicopters, supplied by the Shah of Iran, confronted over 60,000 Baluch fighters. As a result of this conflict, at least 15,000 Baluch were killed and many thousands were displaced (Rahman, 2010 - BalochHal).

On 28 May 1998 Pakistan conducted six nuclear tests in Baluchistan. The first five nuclear explosions were conducted in the Koh Kambaran range and Chaghai hills. The sixth explosion was conducted in Kharaan in an undisclosed location. In total all six explosions yielded 52 kT (kilotons) of radio toxic nuclide. This inhumane act was carried out by Pakistan state in complete secrecy without the knowledge of Baluch people. The Baluch have been demanding an independent assessment of the impacts of these tests and are for complete removal of all nuclear activities from their homeland.

The latest military operation launched by the Pakistani military dictator Pervez Mushurraf in the year 2000. Thousands of Baluch intellectuals, political workers, students and Baluch leaders were imprisoned, tortured and killed during this military campaign.

Aftab Sherpao, the interior minister of Pakistan talking to media in Turbat in December 2005 admitted the arrest and imprisonment of about 4000 Baluch people.

In their report on 5 March 2010 the Asian Human Rights Commission has estimated that the number of Baluch men, women and children abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies, during Mushurraf reign, to be over 4000. Among the disappeared persons are the names of 168 children and 148 women. The number of extra judicial abductions and killings of Baluch people by Pakistani secret agencies since the year 2000 according to Baluch sources is more than 8000. The political prisoners include students, lawyers, doctors and people who general member of public or labors aged between 17 years old to 75 old activists.

In August 2006 the Pakistani army targeted and killed a prominent Baluch political leader Akbar Bugti (age 79). Almost a year later, in November 2007, they assassinated Balaach Marri the leader of Baluch Liberation Army. On 3 April 2009, Pakistani agencies abducted three more Baluch political leaders; Baluch National Movement President Ghulam Mohammed Baluch, his deputy Lala Munir Baluch, and Baluch Republican Party Secretary General Sher Mohammed Baluch from their lawyer’s office. Shortly after, their mutilated bodies were found on the outskirts of Turbat on 8 April 2009.

Pakistani secret agencies also abducted Rasool Bux Mengal, the joint secretary of the Baluch National Movement, from Uthal on 23 August 2009. His badly tortured body was found on 30 August 2009 in Bela of Lasbela district. Jan Muhammad Dashti, the owner and publisher of the Daily Asaap, survived their assassination attempt on 23 February 2009.

From month of August 2010 the Pakistani intelligence agencies have started to use its new method of “Kill and dump tactics” about twenty Baluch political and social activists have been killed in cold-blood and then dumped their bodies in open fields. Among these victims were three lawyers of the Baluchistan High Court. Mr Munir Miwani was abducted few months ago and is still missing. Mr Zaman Khan Marri was abducted on 18 August 2010 and his body was found on 6 September 2010. Another renowned Baluch Lawyer, columnist and poet, Mr Ali Sher Kurd was abducted on 21 September from Quetta and his mutilated body was found on 24 September 2010 in Khuzdar town in Balochistan.

In Western Baluchistan, Baluch people have been on the top of the list of victims of Islamic fundamentalist regime. Under their occupation, Western Baluchistan has been in a state of perpetual curfew. The Islamic regime of Iran from the day it sets a foot in Baluchistan has targeted the secular progressive Baluch intellectuals who can articulate the democratic demands of their people most effectively.

The vast majority of Baluch political and human rights activists were either killed imprisoned or forced to leave their homeland within the first two years of the Islamic regime being in power.

During the period of 2004/2009 the Islamic regime of Iran has executed about 1481 persons, out of the total population of 75 million, according to Amnesty International annual reports on Death Sentences and Executions. In the same period the number of Baluch people being killed by the Islamic regime forces is about 800 persons out of a population of about three million people (Balochistan Human Rights Activists Association). That figure indicates that about 55% of people being killed by Islamic regime of Iran during this period have been from Baluch ethnic community. In view of that, as a proportion to their population, the Baluch in Western occupied Baluchistan had the highest concentration of death penalties in the world during this period of time.

The actual figure of the victims of the Islamic Regime of Iran is far from complete. According to the Human Rights Activists of Iran “there is no accurate information on the number and identities of the tens of Baluch political prisoners in southeastern Iran.
